Re: Quicksand!

Well, idioms are really hard to translate and you have to know both languages very well to do it properly. While good otherwise, Google can't usually do that. Try for instance "er will immer eine Extrawurst gebraten haben."

I second Andy's recommendation: Das Boot is excellent. :)

Re: Quicksand!

Thanks, Gabe. :) And yes, Leutnant should be a valid rank in the Wehrmacht. On the other had, the SS had their own.

Re: WinterWar, improvement suggestions

Too many constraints for so much effort, it’s like some toys that work with batteries but batteries are not supplied with :( So you need 4 artillery units to receive another artillery unit but what are we gonna do with all these artillery units :?:   good one... But seriously, there...

Re: Quicksand!

PS: Also agree with Andy, nice German, Bruce. :D Well, perfect actually, if the soldiers are on the "you"-basis with their officer. I would be on a "you" basis with everybody if the sand were up to my neck like that one poor fellow! You don't know Germans that well, do you? :P  My Germa...

Re: Self-propelled anti-tank units (SPAT)

Yes, and incidentally I'm not a big fan of SPAT's of any nation because their armour is usually thinner than tanks and they haven't got a turret, and some are open-topped, so give me a "proper" tank every time....:) Well, they sure are not tanks but I'm glad in OoB they can support other units just...

Re: Self-propelled anti-tank units (SPAT)

( Footnote - the only glaring omission I can see is that the British Archer is not in OOB, it was the only SPAT the Brits had, it was a slow mover but packed a helluva punch with its 17-pounder AT gun) Indeed and it was great in ambushes because of the unique design (gun faced rearward). Brits shou...

Re: Self-propelled anti-tank units (SPAT)

Spike's OoB 101 -courses are very useful for all new players. :)

I don't think I've ever seen insta-deaths in OoB except when the AI decides to test what is shown above.

OUTCOME EVENT bug (?):

RESTART and EXIT have disappeared from the OUTCOME EVENT :
It is not a bug but intentional and Gabe already gave the likely reason:

v7.1.6 – February 12, 2019

• Restart and Exit options removed from Outcome screen

Re: Invisible fighter escort?

You mean the good old Kampfgruppe by SSI? Yes in the 1980's for the Amiga (below), I spent countless hours playing it mostly against the computer, totally mesmerised..:) I did, too, though with C-64. And also its sister games Battlegroup (western front) and Mech Brigade (Cold War). Ah, those golden...

Re: Explanation of all traits

I suppose no unit has "Landmine immunity", right? It may be used in conjunction with the Brit. "Metal Detector" spec internally somehow. It makes engineers mine-immune then - even their transports, I think (?). Sounds like a good idea. Maybe with an Allied DLC one day... Re. "Unreliable": Imo it sh...

PS- I used to play Kampfgruppe against a Brit territorial army guy and trusted him until I caught him blatantly cheating. His pathetic excuse was "I have to cheat because you usually win".
Well, that excuse is kind of flattering. :D

Re: Best use of engineers

Anything with Precision Strike is probably the best method because just like you said ground units would be out of commission for a long time when hunting such a straggler.

Re: Best use of engineers

I agree with the rules, but it seems in same rare cases a unit does retreat through the hexes adjacent to the attacking enemy unit as long as it doesn't end up in one (= retreat of two hexes). It is more than possible I remember it wrong  , but I'll keep on eye on it should the thing ever happ...

Re: Best use of engineers

Almost completely forgot about it: That was my solution to the "order of attack/battle":  Thanks for coming back to this. :) Is it 100% sure the enemy won't retreat two hexes when the third unit attacks? It is just that sometimes a two hex retreat (through the attacker's zoc but not ending to...

Re: Is E-100 spesialization still bugged?

You can actually buy the Maus in the final mission, but only after playing about halfway through of the scenario (it is available on the 10th of May) and if you happen to have an extra 9 CPs hanging around. :| Since my mom always said, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at al...

Re: Is E-100 spesialization still bugged?

Imo Gabe's choice of putting the E-100 available for the final mission only is the correct one. That's where you see the American monsters also (T29, T95).

Re: The "Gabe-Mod" (v7.1.6)

Can't say that I have neither, but with experience you don't need ski sticks actually. I find them to be a bother personally. So basically you've got two free hands while skiing... You ski crosscountry without the poles? Really? Don't start me with that. I'm actually a huge StarTrek fan and I could...
