Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

:D Free France campaign: This one would be somehow challenging to develop amongst others because it is ( again!) rather difficult to gather information about the units opposed to the British and Free French at the beginning of the campaign… :roll I think this would be a very interesting camp...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Cool, thanks for these maps. Four so far? They will help with this Winter War 1940 campaign and Continuation War, despite the dates of action. It's the place names and their geographic relationships to each other that I am looking for, as well as troop movements. Yep, I understand those are the mos...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Now I’m just wondering WHEN the Russian Ski Troops have appeared and whether they could have really taken part in the Winter War or not. :? It may again not be that easy to find out reliable information about this point*… :( Sigh  No, it is not at all difficult. If a unit was used, rest assure...

Re: Blitzkrig to Panzerkrieg

I want to buy Weltkrieg pack on steam... its whole package linked? Which campaign should I play first? An excellent choice and you save even more with the pack. Linked are: Blitzkrieg -> Panzerkrieg -> Endsieg and Sandstorm -> Endsieg Kriegsmarine and Winter War are separate DLCs. A possible play o...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Relax, guys. I will go through the sources that the Colonel provided and if feasible I will work Russian paratroopers in, subtly, believably, but perhaps with a dash of designer's license such as was applied to the couple of scenarios in which foreign volunteers appeared. Who knows what battles tho...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Thanks for this source, it's really easy to read! Happy to be of service. :) :!: Oh, and by the way : your source takes for certain that the 13th Rifle Division was involved (together with the 104th and the 52nd)... one could be surprised to see that others sources ensure that the 14th Rifle ...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

@Bru Looks like this map would be the one for the first three scens. Though Raate Road is very generic title and I don't know how much of it needs to be covered. JR = Infantry Regiment SissiP. = Sissi Battalion (light infantry) Er.Ps.P- = Independent Tank Battalion Pst.Psto = AT Battery Kev.Os. = Li...

Re: commanders

You'll come around eventually - at least I believe that. Everybody needs a break sometimes, even if the break may take a year or so. As for BattleTech, I would definitely recommend it NOW; that is, if you don't mind the Sci-Fi setting of the game. Many bugs and balance issues have been sorted out a...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

We are probably getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but these are the scenarios planned and done pre-Bru treatment. pre-Bru treatment  Nice term. I was about to ask what is this "Makinen" because it is not a location. But I found the... source so now I know. Looks like the first three are around...

(Sorry, I'm still stuck with BattleTech. The latest updates added some nice variants and options and I decided to start a new campaign)
Would you recommended it for someone who likes turn-based strategy games? It seems I can no longer play OoB simply because too much is too much.

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

I certainly wouldn't introduce Soviet paratroopers in the Winter War based on any of those sources. It would be pure fantasy. Pure fantasy ? Not sure at all about that; and it's sometimes difficult to find really precise sources... the main problem here, somehow, is that they were not large...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Cool, those maps could help going forward (1940 . . . and 1941? I just saw another indication that Continuation War may be in the studio works, too). Any more maps that you care to post here for that time period would be appreciated. Cool and Colonel, consider it done: You will see a reference star...

I certainly wouldn't introduce Soviet paratroopers in the Winter War based on any of those sources. It would be pure fantasy. But maybe it is best if you read the first of those (https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=121071) and then do what you think is best. Note that the sources are okay ...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Again, no offense to anyone with Finnish affinities. I did use this source: Old maps of Finland and I bet a careful perusal of that, compared to today's (and possibly inaccurate) Google map information, would yield inconsistencies of spellings over time. Okay..., those are nice and I especially lik...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

French and Spanish are one thing, but I would venture to guess that 99 out of 100 of us will not know the difference when it comes to Finnish. That is probably correct. Quick recap: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelling_of_Mainila. Interesting. I might be able to work that in as a campaign e...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

Correct names: Suojärvi, Piitsjoki, Loimola. Krylämäki? Should be Kylänmäki. Some of that is Google, I think. As I said earlier, too, either the Finns love certain place names, using them repeatedly, or Google is inaccurate. This was the first OOB work in which I actually had trouble finding locati...

Re: BrucErik CSD Studio

You guys are doing a magnificent work! :D Looking at these posts there are issues though, but isn't it good as it is? So, one more mouse wheel zoom-in and there they were; the three village names needed, Laherma, Hietakylä, and Karvola: Well, yeah, but they are wrong because you are in a wrong place...

Re: Some thoughts about OoB

Yeah, wasn't there another user mentioning the same thing? The explanation makes sense, if you play to the very last turn, you'll usually end up with one additional turn, something like 26/25. Yep, that's it. Agree with Gabe and Bru about arty. There's also to remember the huge range of certain hvy...
