Re: least missions to moon

It is not really clear in the game, but the Soviet spaceplane is more like a Buran/Space Shuttle than an X-15, for example the X-15 was not capable of achieving orbit. It's not like the one in BARIS that you could actually take to the Moon if you wanted to. Logically, a lunar lander would be needed ...

least missions to moon

Always we look for shortcuts to our destinations. One I've found as the Soviet player is rather than starting with Sputnik and its rocket, start with Korabol and its Vostok rocket. Korabol is just a Vostok you put a dog in, so it lets you fulfil the satellite achievement and at the same time the unc...

Re: Status of the game

This is why games should be designed to be easily moddable. In many cases, fans come up with better stuff than the original makers ever did, and it only helps the brand of the company, and thus sales of future products.

rockets - buttons not working

Playing as USSR, normal difficulty with version 1.50. Open Voshkod. "There is no rocket for this, do you want to open a rocket programme?" Okay, it takes me to rocket programme screen. Voshkod rocket selected. "Management screen" or "mission screen"? Neither button responds when clicked on. This err...

Re: Space Program Manager Patch 1.5 available

My original downloaded installer file is v0.8 or something, I was here for the beta testing. But each patch since about 0.9 which was about when they disabled the updater has been self-contained, you're not supposed to need any of the previous ones, ie it's not really a "patch" as it's a self-contai...

"CRC error, please reinstall the game."

Removed the game, reinstalled it 3 times now, still doesn't work. Previous versions worked fine.

Re: Observatory

As I recall, originally all modes had it. It was supposed to be where you went to look at missions in progress over the seasons, but that function was never implemented and seems to have been taken over by the Vehicle Assembly Building. So they probably just forgot to take it out of GSA mode.

Re: When did you land on the moon?

I never considered their learning ability, that'll make a difference. I'd just choose the best 4 people at each thing, then have 3 on a payload/rocket while the 4th was studying, then swap that one in for one of the 3, and so on. Or 5 with 1 rotating in and out if cash was good.

They're not available because they don't exist in the game, like lunar bases and manned missions to Pluto.

Re: Soviet Probes Programs not available

This is because the solar system menu is generic, but then it returns to that specific player, ie US or SU. The game covers the missions which were done or seriously planned. The SU did not make serious plans for any missions other than Earth, Moon, Venus and Mars. Not until the 1980s, anyway, which...

Re: When did you land on the moon?

Gemini EOR? I just looked at that, it's awful! You've got the Gemini itself to research, though that can be pretty good by the time you start the programme, but there's also the Gemini service module, the lunar lander, and TWO spacesuits. Most of these things start at 3%, and every mission uses all ...

Re: Not good, comrade...?

I wouldn't change it. It's like the kid who normally gets As and comes home with a B, the parents are disappointed. A consistently high level of success leads to higher expectations. Nowadays, China or India having a failed flight is less of an impact on their image than the US or Russia.

[BUG - 1.2.0 beta] Negative funds and tiger teams block

Once you're down near zero funds, you can keep sending people off to training even though this takes your funds to negative. Usually a player won't worry about this, since so long as the budget is in surplus they'll return to positive next turn. BUT if you have a launch scheduled that turn and it ha...

Re: Failure loop

Load the game. Cancel the mission. Change ONE thing about the mission - the rocket used, one of the flight controllers or nauts, anything. Now the system will generate a new bunch of random numbers for the mission. Alternately, cancel the mission and try again in the next turn. Failing that, accept ...

Re: SPM v 1.1.29 (Beta) now available on Steam

Interestingly, the beta of 1.1.29 being available only on steam and not through the updater or a weblink means that many of the people who beta-tested it from quite early on cannot beta-test this version.

[bug] bankruptcy when it shouldn't happen

[BUG] Apart from the first 1-2 times I played the game and didn't even know we couldn't go to negative money, the only time I've gone bankrupt was when I was losing money but had some spare, I came to the final turn of the 1959-1962 cycle. If I'd had the same income as it went from 1962.4 to 1963.1...
