Any FoG R players in Southern California

Hi all, I am looking for FoG R opponents in So Cal. I live in South Orange County, California. Anyone play FoG R in the O.C. or Los Angeles, San Diego, or the Inland Empire counties? I have 15mm 30YW Dutch, Later Imperial Spanish, Later Swedish (Duty & Glory) and Samurai armies. My email is byz3...

I agree that it wouldn't be fair to have to replace each and every army list book for free either. But what about giving people who bought the books the option to purchase a new copy, when a second printing run is done and the errors are corrected, at wholesale if they send back the first book they ...

You know what? Back in the days when army lists were published in black and white with maybe a monochrome cover and black and white line drawings I wouldn't have had any problem with that either. But for some reason I am hesitant to take whiteout and a pen to a high end product published on quality ...

No 30YW French Allies list among other ommissions is considerably more than a few typos. I paid good money for the book and didn't get full value. The product I bought is not complete or correct. Funny how you guys get all pissy about people xeroxing or reproducing your materials and expect us to re...

FoGR errata

Are there any permanent measures being contemplated to address this? Will a revised Wars Of Religion army list book incorporating the errata be released? If so will those who purchased the flawed WOR books be offered a rebate or even an opportunity to trade in their flawed books for correct ones? Be...

Well you have proven my point for me here. Tournament or competition style players will gravitate towards FoG while those who are looking for a bit of fun and some good camraderie wilill gravitate towards something like La Salle. I guess I am not a tournament or competition style player and therefo...

In La Salle if two units fight one the two units likely will each get only half their combat dice and the one unit will have to split its combat dice evenly between its two opponents. This is because a unit must either have more than half its bases in contact with the enemy unit OR must cover the e...

Move forward and pin them again they are then reacting to you, thats what fogs about. No, that's what the hokey-pokey is all about. :D FoG is supposed to be about ancient warfare, which, last time I looked, involved closing to handstrokes if both armies are basically heavy infantry forces. ...

I really fail to see the point of this. Somebody who wants rules in a certain style (lets call it style X) complains that FoG is instead in style Y, he doesn't like playing against its community of players who presumably for the most part like style Y rules, and therefore FoG should be changed to b...

DBM attempted to be written to defeat the players who tried to wring "odd moves" (ahem) out of the wording. It failed despite the best efforts of clever people assisted by those who knew the way these minds work (because they have those minds 8) ). IMO it is actually impossible to legisla...

FoG is a fine game if you are playing a reasonable opponent who abides by the standards of good sportsmanship. You even find some such playing tournaments though rarely. But FoG would be a superior game if it were written so as not to reward cheesy moves that violate the spirit of the rules. TG See...

They were pinned by me, they were in the 2 MU restricted area. They turned 90 degrees and moved far enough to be out of charge reach. That is possible for MF or even HF if there is more than 1 MU distance between them and their opponents as both can move 3 MU. Move forward and pin them again they a...

In all the games I have played if you get within 2mu of the enemy with battle troops your not thinking of moving back and leaving your rear open for a charge. I played a tournament game (of course what other kind would it be) where my opponent's Principate Romans did just that. They turned away fro...

A wonderful dream, it seems, unfortunately. I turned to the darkside myself. It seemed easier than complaining. But one day, maybe. Maybe not a dream. This forum exists, the authors one assumes occasionally read it, and may even be willing to change something in the rules that really needs changing...

Of course driving them before you is realistic. But so is catching them between two of your BG's, just like what happened to the Seljuq Turks at Dorylaeum. The way the restricted area currently works makes that less likely to be able to happen than it would "realistically" be since we are...

The rules as read make that a less effective tactic than simply driving them before your line as you advance and force them to move away. That makes no sense. TG But surely driving them before you is more realistic. Oh no, I'm expecting realism now. Best I sit down. Of course driving them before yo...

I've thought it's a little to easy to get out of this restricted zone, in partticular is actually easier to get out of the restricted zone of multiple battlegroups as the moving BG gets to pick who he reacts to. Probably a simple change is to allow the non-moving player to decide. Why change it in ...

I get far more irritated about what happens when you have two BGs doing the pinning, something you clearly haven't played enough to discover yet ;) As pointed out already, there will be things in any ruleset you don't like (unless, presumably, you wrote the rues yourself ;)). It's not uncommon to s...

tgreene: Define "gamesmanship". It's hard to see this particular example as gamesmanship, since it is clearly the RAW and clearly as the authors intended, too. "What is the point óf having a restricted zone at all?" is easily answered: because if it wasn't there, then LH really ...
