Thanks for the quick reply
That's good news as it will let me spend the money on more figures

FOG ver 2 - Army book question
Hi everyone, I've been away for a long time, but have come back to FOG. I bought the tablet edition of the rulebook - and I think it's nice. I prefer the new digital format, but that's me. What I want to know is do I have to buy ver 2 army books too? I have most of the original ones and want some cl...

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
I have one set of that - my greatest peeve with it is that with 20 minutes research on the internet you can get some near unstoppable strategies for specific scenarios because of fixed deployments.
Otherwise it's a fun game.

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
Hi k9mike - I'll have to give up front a go on Vassal.
Not aware that Nuts is on it - not the 2nd edition version at any rate

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
First of all - thanks on the book. do let me know what you think of it (and do be honest) As regards getting in to WW2 tabletop wargaming - I would recommend a good solo system like NUTS - I play it in 1/72. Am currently moving house so all my figures are packed away. But new house has a couple of r...

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
Thanks GottaLove88s! Yes, we have been known for sticking things out. Despite the massive bombing of the island, it does also feature some stunning 16th Century military architecture that always puts me in the mood for a wargame. Now where did i put that "WW2 Invasion of Malta" scenario I ...

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
There are actually a very active couple of clubs here - about 100 or so wargamers in those pools. And I also do a lot of solo waragming when I don't get the time to play. I think that GW products made the hobby popular - and we gently ease the younger ones into historical wargaming then. Best thing ...

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
Hahaha - well I guess its nice to be associated with multi-orgasms, but that's not my claim to fame. The book is Wargaming World War Two The link is: http://www.amazon.com/Wargaming-World-War-Two-civilizations/dp/1484868803/ You can also run a search on "Justin Tonna" (which is me) and its...

Re: WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
I think that's a good summary - when the game gets it right, some concepts (not all) convert.
And if you do go too far you will end up bogged down. I suppose that's where playability and common sense come together

WW2 wargaming and tactics - a new book
Hi everyone, I recently released a new book on WW2 wargaming that, while it deals with the miniature side of the hobby, also looks at adapting real life tactics to wargaming in general. Battlefield Academy (and Close Combat) players will find some of the concepts useful. But before I do a shameless ...

Solo DAG game vs the PC
Hi everyone - I have been away a long time from FOG, but while cleaning up my hard drive I decided to boot it up and have a quick game against the PC. Here are the results: http://wargamingaddict.blogspot.com/2012/12/field-of-glory-pc-battle-report.html My Carthaginians faced off against a (randomly...

General wargaming tactics
Hi all, Been away for a long time due to work. But you can't keep a wargaming addict down for long :D I have been thinking a lot about wargaming tactics (as opposed to specifically real life tactics). I was browsing through Sun Tzu the other day, thinking how I could bring some of it to life in warg...

Many, many thanks for your feedback. I agree with you on all points - We need to 'script' the video a bit better and find a good vantage point for the camera. As it is, it is more of a video diary of a wargame. We will be improving it as we go. We actually continue the game tomorrow (Sunday), so eve...

Something a bit different - Video of battle
Hi everyone, We decided to try out something different, rather than a normal AAR report and took a video of us playing the game. We both explain our moves, the choices we make, our tactical decisions and a bit about Field of Glory as we go along. The first three videos are up and can be seen at: htt...

I have to agree with SRW1962 and 76mm - you do tend to see a lot of similar maps - no matter what. I play a broad variety of armies, make a lot of different terrain selection choices, yet inevitably see the same maps. And what is that diagonal fetish about? I guess the only solution is to wait...

Agreed - it would be 2 dice vs 2 dice in the impact, but 4 (for the smiling faces) vs 3 (for the devils) in the melee. But then, the disadvantage comes from chasing after troops who were running away into fresh ones - which history shows us has rarely been a good idea. Just ask old King Harold. He t...

Well in the following melee phase the bases in overlap against the Thracians (and also in contact with the routers) can choose which unit to fight against (as is normal in combat). Ideally you want it to be even. You have 4 bases in contact with the routers. 2 can fight the Thracians as overlap, and...
