That's good, I doubt I could even remember the choices I didn't use 😉
That's exactly what I was thinking! Confusion cleared up since fortunately I remember what I did use. :lol:

I am in for this one - for once a proper hoplite section vs. hoplites in Biblical. :wink:

Round 2 Game 1 edb1815 (Andalusian) defeated MikeMarchant (Franks) 44%-18% Points: 76 - 18 Game 2 edb1815 (Franks) defeated MikeMarchant (Andalusian) 54%-40% Points: 64 - 40 Interesting match up. I think the Franks have to dismount some lancers to counter the Muslim vet spearmen to be competitive. W...

Re: Confirmed schedule for Season 9 . . .

All very interesting. I like the idea of historically themed match ups. At a minimum you could use the list generated by the game with date and geo restrictions turned on.

Re: ELO Ratings

It is used in some tabletop miniatures tournaments. There has to be some affirmative action by the tournament director to submit the tournament points to whomever is controlling the ratings for that game. I didn't know it was connected to PC games.

Re: Passive vs Active Defence

Mike that is totally untrue saying it is a cultural. I have played in a number of US Opens and know most of your US National team. Not one of them would agree with what you have just said. Strategic cautiousness is a valid and widely used tactic. There is variation within any given culture and anec...

Re: Passive vs Active Defence

If at deployment the map was hidden , as in the Alternative Game Play mod, you would be less likely to get someone pick an army designed to camp if they have no idea if there is somewhere to camp. Might that help a little? At least then if they do end up camping they won't have an army fully design...

Re: Alternative Gameplay Mod Tournament

edb1815 (Gallic) defeated random27 (Macedonian) 56% - 26%

If I have the points correctly that is:

edb1815 = 80
random27 = 26

We are still battling in the second game which is still very close with 10 turns remaining.

Re: Alternative Gameplay Mod Tournament

This interpretation of pikes feels closer to Phillip and Alexander's use of the phalanx and the earlier battles of the Diadochoi. Essentially they are more like improved hoplites in this period. The more powerful phalanax representation seems more appropriate for Raphia and the Macedonian/Seleucid ...

Re: Passive vs Active Defence

Yes. But that small minority of games are always carefully picked by players depending on the current standings in that division. All part of the metagaming that goes on outside of the actual matches that I dislike. Well, I think my tolerance levels must be higher than yours. If a player has won 8 ...

Re: Alternative Gameplay Mod Tournament

yes, these means one of you has an outdated version of the mod. If you installed it prior to around 9:00AM MST on July 31st, then please re-download and reinstall (same link). The same thing happened in one of the two matches I have with random27. He updated after starting the first game. It appear...

Hy Schweetness. For your info, after launching a match from "My Turn" tray I got this message of error: "The scripts or other data being used by your opponent do not match yours. You should contact the other player to ask why their data is different. It is recommended you abandon the game and repor...

Re: FOG2DL given clean bill of health by Slitherine review . . .

It is also clear that at least one vocal member of this forum, who wants to see all the data, has taken the time to determine how one could game the system and reported his findings. Frankly I think that supports your reasoning for not being specific about the details of the anti-cheat system. Repo...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

We will make an announcement once everything is finalised but it will be about general systems and not details. Partly as these could help people to game the system and partly as they are going to be subject to change without notice. The issue is as we're reviewing different games there are differe...

Re: dkalenda has been expelled from the tournament for multiple re-loading of turns during his matches . . .

There will be warnings before a sanction. I'm not willing to discuss the details of this as it could be used to try and manipulate things. The aim is to find a balance between preventing cheating and false positives. We agree it was too far one way, we just want to be careful we don't go too far th...
