Division C

edb1815 Arab (North Africa) 1000-1160 w/ Byzantine allies defeated Doyley50 Viking 900-1049: 58%-22%

Good game. The Arab foot held out just long enough for the Arab and Byzantine cavalry to cave in a flank. Good use of the mounted Huscarls by Doyley.

Re: Poll on new "Allies" feature

I would like it to be possible to choose an ally that may change in each game. This way one can make up for deficiencies in an army vs a variety of opponents. Do you think this is doable? Possible make a selection of 2 allies to choose from up front as another option. Although I would note that som...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

So I need back rank archers for late roman infantry units. For late roman campaign you should play the stilicho's,not the 3rd century crisis. But if you just wanna meet this situation I suggest you should just start a custom battle between the late roman(313-378ad's list, you play the romans) and sar...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

Most of the time I'm in campaign and custom battles against AI,the main cavalry army's AI(like sarmatians) mostly just DON'T charge when facing the late roman infantry units so don't say that "they can get out of position easily when they charge".And rough terrains? You don't have those "providentia...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

If you're facing the horse archers then you don't charge, they will keep shooting to make heavy losses of your infantry, you have to do this, especially when they got large numbers. And if you're facing lancers, most of times they just don't charge and await yours late infantry charge to them, take a cus...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

Based on but not all,and many things are different from the original table top game,FOG1 made the back rank archers can do active shooting but FOG2 not,I don't know why, really will make you very passive, the late roman army lists' main build is infantry, and roman cavalry is not good,if you try to us...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

But fog1 and 2 are not TT games... No but both are based on the TT game, which where the rear rank bowmen as a POA factor comes from. Based on but not all,and many things are different from the original table top game,FOG1 made the back rank archers can do active shooting but FOG2 not,I don't know ...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

Just hope one day he will change the mind, most of times the enemy AI will choose not charge to the late infantry units who got darts and back rank archers as defensive POA,I think you have already tried,if can't do active shooting, there're very less ways to force the enemy charge and make you very ...

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

You've had this discussion multiple times with RBS. He's been very clear: it's not going to happen. I don't think trying to open the discussion for the 5th or 6th time is going to change that. Just hope one day he will change the mind, most of times the enemy AI will choose not charge to the late in...

Re: Provisional outline for the Themed Event in Season 5

Once the timeline expands up to the 11th century a Britain themed event could be interesting. Starting with the Ancient Brits, Romans, Caledonians, Scots-Irish then moving on through Romano Brits, Saxons, Vikings and finally Normans. Yes, that would definitely work for a Themed Event in the future....

Re: Field of Glory II - The Wolves have arrived

Maybe this means we are closer to getting "Storm of Arrows" and the high middle ages - HYW and WoTR, etc. 8)

Still this is looking good with the Allies feature and crossbows! Oh and does the timeline cover El Cid? Looks close.

Re: Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Division C edb1815 (Arab City) defeats herm (Ostrogoths) by concession. (19% v 11%). While the numbers appear to be even, the Ostrogoth flanking maneuver left the army strung out and the more numerous Arab cavalry with infantry support took advantage of it. On the last turn played I had caught 4 lan...

Re: Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Div C jjaquemond (Kingdom Soisson) Defeats edb1815 (Arab City) 61% to 57% An absolute brawl. Both our infantry lines refused to give, and fought a knockdown-dragout slugfest (I don't think I've seen this many Hold-until-auto-routes-from-casualties… ever). Timely cavalry reserves in the center final...

You mean having Crete as a province supplies the famous Cretan "archers". :)
