Re: 20 years of thank you!

I remember watching my Dad play Legion when it first came out. He was so exited about it, the fact it had the names of all the Italian tribes!

Can't believe it's been 20 years! Here's looking forward to the next 20!

Re: A Certain Panzer General's Adventures -- Generalissimus (No Liberator / Trophies of War / Heroes)

With the unfortunate end of another AAR, I'll just post a note that I will get around to finishing what remains of this AAR, but due to other commitments this isn't likely to happen before the FM Edition early access for the Spanish Civil War release in early July. It'll be worth the wait I'm sure....

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

I would've liked to see that Bagration -- it's a rare thing to find AARs that feature bloody victories or near-defeats. I largely metagamed my way out of a challenge in it myself so the Red Army never really troubled my lines, but your description sounds a lot like what I'd expect Bagration is supp...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

Sad to see it end, have enjoyed this AAR more than any others in recent memory. I enjoy a good story telling element!

Only 3 upgrades per scenario seems brutal to me. Especially when you hit 1943! I might five that a go on a play through at some point.

To PoorOldSpike: Offbeat question for you since I see you list Plymouth as your location. I've been storming through a series of fantasy novels where the main characters are primarily set in the west end of Cornwall. The author uses all real place names and descriptions and the like, including beer...

Re: Herr Pferdmann rides again!

April 7th 1941 (8) 1.Panzer spent the day consolidating their position, throwing huge amounts of ordinance at the British whilst maintaining effective siege lines. 5.Light Div. continued to make slow progress, the lone road along the coast just couldn’t cope with the amount of traffic. 5.Panzer Rgt...

April 3rd 1941 (4) The scattered British Cruiser tanks were quickly finished and with infantry now securing the Dunes on the southern flank, 1.Panzer advanced. Generalmajor Fischer kept his men in good order, able to offer mutual protection incase of another British counter attack. https://i.imgur....

Re: Weekly Unit Discussion Thread

Let’s move on to this week’s topic; anti-air! Compared to fighters they are more prestige-intensive (even small caliber AA is very expensive, especially since organic transport is not really negotiable) but generally offer better slot economy.. Whatever floats yer boat..:) Personally I usually avoi...

Re: Weekly Unit Discussion Thread

Good old AA guns. In my first campaign I used only 2. Both started as 37mm towed and became 88s pretty quickly as I found I was using them in AT mode more often. I agree that having a few around is important as they offer a measure of defence for your ground troops whilst your fighters do their job...

Re: Herr Pferdmann rides again!

One thing people overlook is splitting the 88s. By offsetting the split units 3 hexes apart from each other You can cover more area, and even risk leapfrogging/moving the one behind 5 hexes up. In effect allowing you to move 3 hexes/turn and keep your 88/units covered. ie X00X00,000000 becomes 000X...

March 31st 1941 (1) https://i.imgur.com/AT9vASs.jpg Pferdmann as always prior to commencing an operation studied his map. The plan for this “reconnaissance” in force was simple. 5.Light Division will move on Benghazi and then hug the coast eastwards. 1.Panzer Division will move in force, break out ...

I hear that the British have a new prototype of their spitfire, and want to test it out strafing your artillery....
Karl and Otto would appreciate some real sport........

I mean, the Brits can try but they have to get past my Flak first :D

Re: Herr Pferdmann rides again!

July 30th 1940 Generalleutnant Pferdmann found himself in a small cafe in northern France with his senior officers. It had been more than a month since France surrendered but despite the aerial campaign currently being waged over her, Britain had refused to talk peace. 1.Panzer had been slated to b...

Re: This is not a finished game - poor realism, balance and a useless designer

As for the AI, thats a pretty universal complaint about most games. The sad truth is that AI hasnt really improved beyond machine learning theory since the 1960s.. Agreed, I've never, ever, seen any game by any manufacturer in which the AI opponent has given me a hard time. Suggestions- 1- One of th...

Herr Pferdmann is probably sat outside Adolf the crazys' office wondering if he knew who was responsible for leaving their briefcase behind, and whether that person was going to the eastern front... Russias cold, very cold, and very big.... he mused. On the other hand , he was getting a bit pasty f...

Re: iPAD Version

Would Ipads even have the juice to run this? Absolutely they would... if it ran natively on them (i.e. used Apple's Metal graphics API). iPad CPUs are excellent and outperform most PCs. However, that could all go out the window if Slitherine has to rely on Unreal and Unreal didn't do a good job por...
