Re: Tournament Round III Army Comparison

I'm not sure the tournament win statistics back up your theory. Carthaginian (262-236BC) 10-2-12 Carthaginian (235-146BC) 36-4-14 Carthaginian, Hannibal in Italy (218-217BC) 33-2-40 Carthaginian, Hannibal in Italy (216-203BC) 102-5-73 Carthaginian, Hannibal in Africa (202BC) 115-8-75 Roman (280-220B...

Re: End of Season 9 round-up . . .

Merry Christmas and three cheers to Pete for putting in all the time for these tournaments. Also big ups to the most friendly and sporting multiplayer community I've ever interacted with.

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your result here . . .

Division C

oscarius - Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 BC beats cromlechi - Gallic 300-101 BC with Umbrian 490-260 BC allies 60 - 42

A real nail-biter where I never felt safe even up to the final turn. Thanks for the game.

Re: oscarius has won Late Antiquity Division C!

Great tournament, probably my favourite so far. It's no secret that JR is a great list so maybe the B Division will knock me back down..

Re: Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Division C oscarius (6) - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD beats Bluefin (2) - Alan 25-650 AD : 49 to 20 Some useful terrain and my huge amount of light foot meant the Alans never managed to make much of a dent in the Jewish lines. Neither enough lancers to break my infantry or enough horse archers to outsho...

Division C

oscarius - Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 B beats bomber23 - Seleucid 166-125 BC with Jewish 163-111 BC allies: 41 - 6

A hill in my favour and a piecemeal assault by my opponent resulted in defeat in detail of my foe.

Division C oscarius - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD beats Garokan - Bosporan 11BC-375 AD with Roman 24 BC-196 AD allies: 49 -18 An early double cohesion drop set off a big chain disrupt in my favour on one flank while my skirmishers shot his lancers to pieces on the other. Thanks for the game, without tha...

Division C

oscarius - Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 BC beat Najanaja - Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy) 216-203 BC 44 - 18

With both armies in a deadlock of similar troop types and quality me managing to slip a sole unit behind Najanaja's lines proved decisive. Thanks for the game

Re: Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Division C oscarius - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD beat kraff - Kushan 130 BC-476 AD: 70 - 28 A much closer game than the scoreline indicates. Kraff's elephants ended up mixed up with his cataphracts and the disorder allowed my zealots to hang in just long enough to flank his elephants causing a huge ch...

Division C oscarius - Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 BC beat MorkinTheFree - Pontic 110-85 BC: 61 - 52 Very close game that saw a bloody slog between two mixed armies. An early death of Morkin's commander likely tipped things in my scale. Well-played. (3-1) oscarius (9) - Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 BC bea...

Re: Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Division C oscarius - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD beats MorkinTheFree - Romano-British 407-599 AD: 47 - 6 A large steep mountain on the right hand side of the map expanded into an epic battle that Morkin's low grade heavy foot was terribly suited for. More difficult terrain across the map limited my foe...

Division C oscarius - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD beats Challenge1 - Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD with Roman 379-424 AD allies: 44 - 19 My superior firepower kept at bay a foe who, understandably given this very dangerous list, was unwilling to fully commit his line. Unfortunately this allowed me to ...

oscarius - Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 BC beat SawyerK - Seleucid 302-301 BC with Lysimachid 320-281 BC allies: 57 - 30

Fun match. My destruction of his left and right flanks left his centre pikes vulnerable to flanking.

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

The downside of larger point sizes is that armies become more predictable in composition. Smaller ones mean you have to play a guessing game of what your opponent is going to put on the table and think how to counter it.
