Re: Works in progress - Crecy

Currently playtesting Sedan 1870, thought a medieval battle next. Looking at Crecy 1346, historically a massacre as the French knights thundered through an arrowstorm into the pits dug to protect the English and Welsh longbowmen, I'm sure players will be more cautious.

Re: Battle to darkness.

In MP games the designer can specify if one side or the other loses in the event of a draw in casualties: it's a good way of forcing that side to attack, so you'd generally choose the one that did historically.

Re: Sound Mod for iPAD?

Really sorry but you've got me here. I'm not much of a PC buff and I don't know what else to do design-wise.

Not being funny but I suppose you've definitely got sound enabled and turned up loud enough?

Re: Sound Mod for iPAD?

Hi Don I think that all the mods do have sound for muskets, rifles, etc, even if the original image didn't (because, for example, it was originally taken from an archer image). This is done by copying a firing sound from a unit that does have it, then pasting that onto a new image in the Battle/Unit...

Re: So P&S is a wonderful game, can we move it...

Not saying that any of them are that great, but there are medieval scenarios for Falkirk, Bannockburn, Formigny, Second St. Albans, Townton and Bosworth. They might give you an idea of what's possible if you wanted to try some of your own. Cheers.

Re: Works in progress

I thought that I'd try the two biggest battles of the Franco-Prussian War next: Gravelotte and Sedan. These are shots from the Gravelotte SP playtest, still needs some balancing. Prussian VIII Corps on the right has cleared Hubert Farm but is running into stiff opposition from the entrenched French ...

Re: Game Turns Wont Upload

Exactly the same story for this and other Slitherine server games from me and at least three other players. Asked support but they just suggested to check my firewall. At least we now know it's a system-wide issue. My understanding is that most commercial companies prefer not to discuss whether they...

Teutoburger Wald 9 A.D. - very slow

error.zip Hi, mentioned this before but this scenario still plays very slowly (both I and my opponent notice it), and it sometimes has that bug where a unit will continue throwing javelins at an empty square until it ends up looking like a hedgehog. I attach the latest error report as a zip, does t...

Re: Charging broken units

Probably impossible to script, but how about deliberately charging an already routed enemy unit (to artificially gain an 'extra' square or two) leaves the chargers one cohesion state lower, i.e. a steady unit would become disrupted, representing an over-enthusiastic pursuit?

Re: Post here links to the MP scenarios you have created

Generally speaking I've found that for SP games it's only worth trying to producing versions for both sides when they're equally matched and both intending to advance. Even then the designer has to tweak the morale to get a roughly balanced game. Scenarios where one side is defending are best played...

Re: Reiters

It is odd historically that very heavily armoured cavalry should have taken it into their heads to gallop around in dense columns popping off with their short-range pistols. But they did, and must have been effective as tens of thousands of them were engaged in many of the major battles of this peri...

Re: Works in progress

Hi again. I believe that a designer could set several victory flags, and say that holding 4 out of the 7 is a minor victory, etc. I'm not sure that you could build the result into the game, or whether you'd need to state it in the scenario briefing. Same question as before though, and I don't necess...

Re: Reduced visibility during night time only

Only just seen this so probably too late. I think it's built into the game, so the calendar says such and such darkness setting will show from e.g. four a.m. to six a.m., then another setting from six a.m. to eight a.m., then full daylight from eight a.m. to whenever, so you just need to adjust the ...
