Looks to me like an SdKfz 7 with the tarpaulin removed as an additional visual cue to distinguish it from an SdKfz 9, 10 and 11.

I guess designer decided with black armor with black shield because of raw legion's white tunic with white shield. Kind of symmetric. :p erm no .. The only potential error with the Triarii is that they should have the same coloured shields as the rest of the Legion since this was used for identification. If you copy them from a website somewhere you're free to do what ever you want to the base games background images (though please make a backup first) .. but we never created unique images for the DLC because they can't be used in game in the way you suggest. AFAIK the engine draws this image from one place and it cannot be changed with DLC without changing it for ever. The thing is that when you first load the game, you're not in any particular DLC. You're just in the FoG base game. DLC isn't loaded until you load a scenario/campaign or choose a particu...

No we haven't. They were only created for marketting and do not exist in the multilayered and normal mapped version we need for the UI. Besides, AFAIK, the current system doesn't allow for different UI for different DLC so it wouldn't help.

What would it take to mod some of the infantry models into cavalry? Example - i'd like to take the Veteran African Spearmen model and put it on the horse model from the new Cimmerian/Scythian cav unit. TLDR: copy and pasting or painting textures.
