Re: Late Antiquity; winners post your results here . . .

Division A a draw: klayeckles (arab) 58 harveylh (roman) 43 romans, seeing the large cavalry arm of the arabs chose to take a defensive position with heavy woods on both flanks. The arabs began a long process of marching to the furthest corners of the map in an attempt to find a gap in the roman fla...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

You can't legislate against this behaviour as it is not a discreet action. Setting armies close together eliminates skill in maneuver. But the entire idea that someone would pick an army in a league setting AND BE WILLING TO DRAW at 0-0 unless handed all the advantages like having their opponent at...

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Div A
klayeckles(persian) vs pantherboy (indians) 46 to 15.

persians hid in the woods to avoid arrow storms as long as possible, so they were not too damaged before the armies met...so the indian archers melted before the better persian infantry.

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Div A klayeckles (persian) vs Triarii (carthage) 55:27 an interesting match up with similar armies...carthage with more quality, persians with more troops and mobility. a river narrowed the battlefield and the carthage artillery guarded the flank from wandering persian cavalry. So the persians had t...

Re: Revised army lists for Season 6 . . .

Will KoS be considered Roman ? No, I hadn't planned to do that. It is arguable, I know. Any other views on this? i recommend you let them stand alone. 1- rome did dominate the period, yet it isn't over represented this period 2- it is a fairly unique army with lots of cav and raw troops 3-we haven'...

Div A klayeckles (persian) beats Xlegione (Seleucid) 45 to 14 Funny...almost identical armies, and similar tactics both sides and opposite results (see battle against dkalenda above). persians are fun to play, but their trap has to spring just right and the teeth have to survive the initial onslaugh...

Re: Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Div A klayeckles(hepthalite) vs CheAhn (roman) 72 to 54 a crazy battle that was settled on the last turn as the buzzer went off. Both armies had the lead at different times, first the hepthalites, who routed a few romans that ventured out into the open. then the romans defending a strong hill top se...

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .

Div A klayeckles (persians) beats youngr (romans) 44 to 6. with cav superiority, and patience the persians were able to frustrate the romans and eventually overwhelm them with numbers. it didn't hurt that the roman commander couldn't roll a dice to save his 4 mistresses when the roman legions did fi...

Re: Poll on player army choices restriction

i will just comment that the LOEG did definitely encourage players to explore other armies...and i think playing other army types greatly improves a players skill set. I guessing my opponents will agree that my Having played predominant cav-shooter armies in early spear eras several times has made m...

Div A klayeckles (persians) vs ruskicanuk (indo greek) 53 to 28 persians won the sprint to the forest where they were able to weather the arrow storm while their hoplite mercenaries set a trap for the indogreek pike blocks getting a flank attack on both...leading to access to the soft gooey center o...

Re: Skirmishers!!

i generally feel a bit naked if i'm outnumbered in the skirmisher department...but the ultra high skirmish armies never get picked in the leagues i've been in...which suggests to me that they aren't a good choice to win a division. and frustrating...YES. but remember frustration comes when the enemy...

DIV a klayeckles (hepthalites) vs youngr (ptolemaic) 65 to 30 hepthalites found a nice flat dry battle field with the sun and wind at their backs, lady luck on their side, and the enemy in the middle of a sing-along, and managed to sneak between the ptolemaics and their weapons for a rare and still ...

Re: Poll on army selection rules

I think this is on the right track, but is still confusing...we don't want 9 of the same nation necessarily...but i don't know this rule as presented (where it is based on the number or armies in of a nation), really gets at the issue of providing option while limiting the number of "same" armies......
