Re: Macedonien removed over 4000 decadenz in one turn

probably lost a large region, culture and decadence is stored by region so losing one can sometimes make a real difference

Re: Chaining "Needed" Trade Goods

no is the answer. There is a one off transaction, the good is needed in a region, its either available in the trade range (& I'll include local production) or not. Available is that it is produced (building or natural resource) in the region. If not you default to the 3* cost. So merely importing it...

The units are made in the region with these improvements, so I guess that doesn't count? Will a unit in the region get all 3 improvements in one turn, or must it stay there for 3 turns?
you only get one, so heavy cavalry can get it from the horse master or the armourer and so on

Re: Military tech bonus?

I am getting Noric steel armor, Thoroughbred mounts and Reflex bows, but these items don't show up anywhere on the actual units that I can perceive. How do they show up? as above, stack them in the region, you'll see the upgrade in the message log (set it to medium) or by opening the unit detail ta...

Re: Attack and Defence Again

... I'm not sure what happens when two armies arrive in the same region at the same time (and yes, you can make that happen while still besieging the region - your army only needs to be in the region at the *start* of each turn to keep the siege going!). I think the "exact impulse" mentioned by Poc...

Re: Bug or WAD

its WAD, you can set the assault command to attack as you enter a region and then move on. Clearly a bit risky as you may stumble onto a large garrison but a good way to clear out a cluster of poorly defended regions

Re: Bug or WAD

#2 is WAD, there is a mechanic that means an army weaker than the defenders will stop their movement ('be pushed back') instead of fight etc. As ever, I'd suspect there is a random element to this calculation so it might sometimes happen even if you think you are committing a reasonably strong force

Re: FOGE to FOG II conversion question for Richard

its going to be the effect of this (from 11.2.3 of the manual): In larger battles the unit conversion ratio is down-scaled to keep the number of units manageable in effect some smaller units may have been removed as part of this process. If I recall there is a random element here (see the rest of th...

Re: All skirmishers target the same unit (latest beta)

it might be due to low experience, your skirmishers get better in their effect as they gain experience, I *think* they also get better at target selection, so if its early game I'd suggest that is the reason

Re: Multiplayer blitzkrieging thoughts

In a MP context, if you take a peripheral nation (& really that is anything but the Diadochi/Carthage/Rome) then you're not doing it to win in any conventional sense. Whichever of that group comes out on top will win on legacy, I guess if they all stalemate then its feasible to see a wider range of ...

Re: Military Reform

I *think* that its any regular HI only (this includes any factional tribal units), so excluded are Phalanx/Silver Shields and the various regional HI (such as the Galatians). Obv Rome has its own, unique, upgrade path.

Re: Mods and Update

treat this with some caution as I'm struggling a bit. my interpretation is if you have a version of say 'factions' in your mod folder, then any column you have retained for your own purpose will over-ride any global changes (or stop them in effect). if you've either not got your own version of one o...

... No body is say that Antigonus winning big is historical. I see. I wouldn't have thought semantics to be used this quickly  But indeed, I have to admit I *heard* nobody say that, but words were *written* to claim it to be historical. ... well if you cut off half a sentence I guess you can...

Re: Multiplayer blitzkrieging thoughts

must say thats my view too. I only done one MP (post-testing) so mostly a SP pov, but my understanding is that Antigonus was a threat to everyone else and possibly could have re-united Alexander's Empire - or at least the Mediterranean portion of it. The modelling of the big 3 at the start is spot o...

Re: Newbie questions

1 - there is a minor variant of this, you'll sometimes see a message about patrols preventing a move, that is usually to avoid a too powerful army. But generally no, best to think of it as a period of manouver in a relatively large area but that sooner or later the 2 armies will need to fight 2 - the...

Re: Emporiums

There are a few secondary rules, some for eg require you to have the level III road (if I recall), others also have different preconditions, so you could possibly have picked one that you lack the means to build. More generally its fiddly, suggest a careful read of Grognerd's excellent guide on this...

Re: Legacy through government

you have to be glorious/old or decadent. The base legacy then varies if you are tier 1/2/3. The more your govt age the more legacy but the more your govt the more decadence, so you are trading the 2 off. The values can be seen from the ledger, just scan down the list of states and you'll legacy per ...
