Re: FoG II Terrain For Medieval Plus Mod UPDATE 5/5/23

Wow! T-mobile Wifi internet is now available in my section of the boondocks and I managed to get a slot. Super fast and no data caps. I was actually able to download the mod in seconds instead of the standard satellite slow as molasses attempted download and disconnect. So I am good to go.

Re: FoG II Terrain For Medieval Plus Mod UPDATE 5/5/23

Any chance for making the file available on a second site for download? For some reason, my attempts to download fail with an extremely slow download speed. I am getting 10-12 hour download times and never get far before the download fails.

Re: Effectiveness Of Pike Squares Against Armor IRL

Yes, plate armor was very effective, otherwise people wouldn't have gone through the expense and discomfort! I get the impression that much of close range melee was about getting the enemy individuals isolated and/or knocked down on the ground in any way possible. At which point, armor is no longer...

Re: Assign Light Troops to a leader?

There are no cons.
What about command and the free turn business.

Re: Elamite Battle Cars

Considering that the word "car" has such modern connotations, what about calling them battle carts or maybe battle wagons? Just kind of jarring to see them called battle cars.

Re: Development wishlist

It might be a project but I would like to see the AI chose an army that matches up better with the map terrain. More cavalry in open terrain, more mediums/lights in rougher terrain, etc. Probably more of a situation with Medieval than with standard FOG2.

Pot Luck for MP

I have been playing a lot of solitaire picking an army and using pot luck to chose the opponent. In most, maybe all, battles, the opposing army has been historical and a good matchup. So I decided to try a MP game using an army and pot luck opponent. I noticed the game system did choose a opponent b...

Re: Arrows vs Armour 2

Mail was the weakness. Showers of longbow arrows are going to hurt. Even with the armor, you don't want to be in the front rank.

1. Yes. Allies add some interesting possibilities.

2. No. Prefer historical matches as much as possible.

3. Yes. They can always rejoin.

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - “Rise of the Swiss” Tournament

On the 2nd game, I don't have a Swiss 1420-1422 army. I have the Swiss for 1400-1422 and 1423-24. Which army will be used in this matchup? I am guessing the 1400-1422 as the campaign takes place in 1422 but want to doublecheck.

Re: Ever-Green League 1240 AD

My spears basically served as pincushions until the Kwarazmians began running low on arrows. After that was bit by bit chipping away at the Kwarazmian's lead. Berber is a good army but they really need more bows when facing a horse army. Thanks for the very challenging game, Lennard. I am taking ano...

Longbows and stakes

Just curious about what people think about the Longbows and stakes. Are they worth 61 points in general or do you need special situations to justify. As Burgundians, I used some against the fairly heavily armored late French and in that matchup, I am not convinced they were worth 61 points. Just not...
