Re: Share some unique/strange tactics that you came up with!

Some of these tactics are kind of 'cheesy' though, and ahistorical I feel. The diagonal line conundrum, combined with squares in this game borders on being ridiculous. And the(very commonly used) charging already routed units to gain a further movement bonus is 'gaming the system' in my opinion and...

Re: Slight concern about battles

bit misleading to be honest. You only get multi-turn battles with relatively large armies in restricted terrain where its hard to do much damage. Most often its resolved in one turn. If you lose, and are outnumbered in terms of cavalry, you get a slaughter as you retreat/rout. If you have plenty of...

Re: Buff for heavy weapons ?

The relative advantages are precisely what's not working right with heavy weapons as they are. Rhomphaia and falxmen exist in time where they can face plenty of superior cavalry with armor ranging from protected to fully armoured, whether or not all those types are faced in the same battle is irrel...

Re: Buff for heavy weapons ?

Well , I think people are forgetting that poa’s are are system of relative advantage..it’s abstract. I get what what you saying that falxman have no additional advantage when facing protected opponents versus armored vs heavily armoured. But why should they when the relative advantage is still achie...

Re: Tides of Conquest campaign tool - recruiting for ongoing Year 500 campaign

Hi Rodia - Monogame seems only to work with 4.5 or above. I tried 4.0 and the solution would not build. Very sorry about that. No worries, I really have to upgrade. Thanks for checking! I have a 32 bit system so cannot use the program, so the program acts as the emperor telling me whom to fight. It...

Re: Buff for heavy weapons ?

I am aware of most of these battles , they really don’t meet the definition of mounted knights engaging homogeneous units of pole armed men in the open. Courtrai:? Flemms behind swamps and stake pits , Bannockburn: uncoordinated Knights vs spearmen, agincourt?? Foot engagement only (and by game defi...

Re: Buff for heavy weapons ?

You need to revisit the poas for armor vs hw. ( not easy as the manual is out of date due to changes in patch 1.39??). When we get to high medieval times knights will be fully armoured (like catphracts) and will exert a 100 poa vs armored ( or lower) foot swords due to armor poa alone. Hws troops wi...

Re: Buff for heavy weapons ?

Cost is just part of it, but there is already a huge difference. Mounted swords poa is netted out versus the foot sword as well as Hw. However the mounted could have up to 100 poa armor versus the swords, they get None versus the hw. That’s pretty significant. I get what you saying about some of the...

Re: Buff for heavy weapons ?

An oft overlooked advantage for some weapons classes(like HW) is the poa is not degraded/negated by disruption/frag or disorder. Cost wise , expensive mounted with no armor advantage ( and being smaller too) vs cheap hw troops seems sufficiently balanced.

Re: Please set the turn time to one season per a turn

Ahh, I wish I had made the beta so I could form some opinions without guesswork. So , based on some of the developers comments the vision appears to be one of a grand campaign lasting over millennia. A motivating factor for the player is the continued tech race to get newer and better units. Aka tot...

Re: Adding a little Chaos

On this theme, it would be cool if one could assign one or more of your sides commander(s) ( and all troops under him) to the ai to play. To have some macro control perhaps the player could click on a grid to “attack” or defend, and the ai then carries the actual moves in that general vicinity.

Re: 2018 tournament ending thoughts about the next

Hello chiming in, I liked the team format ( takes the pressure off ) but am not married to it. The main land armies are pretty cool and play quite differently.... a lite campaign could be fun, especially if we played the Japanese armies, and each player used his own clan. So, up for anything!

Re: My big issues with this game

Good points Klay! I would add that the only time I feel light foot is over powered is when they are used as hunter killer groups on the flanks to destroy formed Cavalry( only needing 2-3 shots to force a cohesion test.). It would be hard to prevent players from doing this without layering tons of ru...

Re: My big issues with this game

AP's should take into account what a unit can do in an allotted amount of time. Ok, but if you try to demand that TIME be linear and mean the same thing for all units across the board at all times, you'll end up finding things "wrong" with pretty much every aspect of ANY turn based wargame. It like...
