Re: Ptolemies never accept Athenian treaties

Thanks for clearing that up so quickly. The root of my confusion was thinking the attitude bar measured trust (which is correct) but then getting a message telling me to build more trust even though my trust was at maximum (and also not realising that the trust metric is not the only thing that is t...

Re: Ptolemies never accept Athenian treaties

Thanks for the quick reply. Sparta+Ptolemies did happen on the campaign map. Just to confirm, on the tool tip the yellow are positive effects and the red negative effects on attitude? With respect to the overall attitude bar, I'd be more interested to see their diplomatic disposition towards me with...

Re: Ptolemies never accept Athenian treaties

Thanks for the reply. What game play effects does the attitude bar have in that case? In most games I'm familiar with the more positive the attitude the more likely the AI is to make treaties and maintain treaties with you, and the more negative the attitude the less likely they are to make them and...

Ptolemies never accept Athenian treaties

I'm playing Athens and the Ptolemies diplomatic attitude bar is full ("admiration") and has been for many turns but every time I propose a treaty I get rebuffed with an I need to build more trust message - even for the most basic treaty request (city visibility, I think). Is this WAD?

Interface question

I'm having some frustrations with the interface and the most annoying is selecting a unit from a group. I've read the pinned post and done the tutorial but I'm finding that (1) clicking on the banner doesn't always work - it seems to be when a unit is on the square above, under the banner on the uni...

I'm uncertain about buying this game

While the board posts seem very positive, after watching some playthrough videos I'm not sure it is for me: My main concerns are that the game play might be a little basic and that the theme is fairly superficial and it is really a generic 4x game with an ancient veneer. I'm not saying this is true,...

Re: Review Posted on Wargamer

if we compare it with Over the Reich or Achtung Spitfire... I too was hoping that AS was going to be the baseline and CY6 was going to build upon it. Seems that the hobby continues to reinvent the wheel. The most important thing about AS is that it probably had the best AI of any game I played - I ...

Re: Hmmm

Also cant say I am enamoured by the graphics much - too gloomy and dark. Especially for bright August English days. Needs to be attractive to play. Mate, which England do you live in? I'm moving to Pocklington. Although, I do find the graphics on the preview videos a bit, I don't know, harsh perhap...

It is possible to use the coupon code more than once during its 30-day validity period? (There is something I want to buy now but I'm holding off because I'm considering buying something else as well.)

Re: Thermopylae 279 BC scenario

Eventually they used the same pass that the Persians used in 480 BC to outflank the Greeks They had 200 years to build a wall, create barricades, or rig a landslide to close that pass during times of war. Not closing the exhaust vent on the Death Star doesn't look so unbelievable after all (putting...

Re: FofG II for MAC?

No hope to have a version for MAC? I'm sure you probably know this, but just in case you don't, OSX's Bootcamp allows you to install Windows on a mac. Apple have made the whole process very simple these days, and I've been doing this for over 10 years. It means you have to buy a copy of Windows, so...

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock - Battle Trailer II

I'm still confused where this game sits on the simulation-arcade game spectrum. From the trailer, I see lots of Bay-esque exploding, but no attempt to shoot down slow moving missiles that are tracking predictably. This leads me to think it is a lot more arcade game than simulation, as from a simulat...

Re: Twitch question: Anti-missile missiles for ship defence

Damn am I salty. http://m.memegen.com/0dwme4.jpg Yeah, got to agree, while I really appreciate the time people are taking to play through and record their sessions - something I could never be bothered to do - either they aren't doing the game justice as something that models sensible naval tactics...

Twitch question: Anti-missile missiles for ship defence

I wanted to ask this question on the Twitch stream yesterday, but my old iPad wasn't up to the task. Anti-missile missiles are the cornerstone of modern naval warfare defence but they don't appear present in the game. From watching the various preview replays on YouTube a high percentage of missiles...

It's good to see such attention to detail concerning the AI, and your design philosophy concerning it. My purchase decisions for wargames pretty much hinge on how much emphasis designers put into this area.

Re: First impressions ... Afghanistan '11: Logistics tycoon

But a Distant Plain is played on an Afghanistan map, not a small region containing a handful of villages. Can't compare it like that. I understand that, but my point was COIN is not equivalent to logistics, which was your contention. Also, playing games on this scale doesn't require logistics to be...

Re: First impressions ... Afghanistan '11: Logistics tycoon

I am really not sure what you are saying here. I though this indeed WAS a logistics game. And the challenge in Afghanistan WAS a logistic challenge mainly. You know, Counter Insurgency, guerrila warfare. Counter-insurgency and logistics are not synonymous. Sure, logistics is a critical part of all ...

First impressions ... Afghanistan '11: Logistics tycoon

I've been playing the game for a week or so now, and I have mixed feelings. I love the game in principle, but in practice the logistics aspect is too prominent for me to really enjoy the game. I think some of these aspects need to be streamlined somehow. I spend far too much time in-game going back ...

Re: When might we expect convoys?

I'm assuming since 1.09 was released today without convoys that this is proving a hard feature to implement stably and will be delayed for a while?
