Re: Carthage Ai
It happens sometimes. I find that if Carthage is present in Sicily by the time I get there, then I usually end up in conflict. However, sometimes they're absent from Sicily - in which case they usually stay out of my area unless I take the fight to North Africa. They sure can be active in Numidia &a...

Re: Is there any way to give or return territory to allies?
... Our discussion started when you said "An occupied territory should not be managed like an owned one", and I disagreed with your proposed change, thinking that you mean that we should never be able to fully manage a conquered region, even if we want to, while war is ongoing and peace n...

Re: Is there any way to give or return territory to allies?
But if you want to conquer the region, and you defeat all resistance, I see not reasons why you could not, even while the war is ongoing without peace in sight, destroy/build buildings, try to collect food/money from peasants or trying to make them accept you as their new ruler. Of course, to bring...

Re: Is there any way to give or return territory to allies?
... This is extremely unrealistic, since in reality, he who has complete control of the region, can build/destroy buildings, tax people, etc. No mater how unwilling peasants are, unless they openly revolt, they can only work less or pay less taxes (which is already simulated by "just conquered...

Re: New Website Issues
Hi! On Firefox I can see the Slitherine site & forum just fine but I'm having problems with the Matrix side. I've been having frequent "400 Bad Request" errors on the Matrix forum, and just today on the main sales page too. Earlier today the forum seemed fine and I managed a post, but ...

Re: Slitherine acquires the Master of Magic franchise
My expectations are quite low. Than I hear "Slitherine" I think "casualized gaming", and casualizing will kill the MoM. Happy to be wrong in this case. Well, my first Slitherine purchase was CMANO, many years ago: http://www.slitherine.com/products/483/details/Command.Modern.Air...

Re: Slitherine acquires the Master of Magic franchise
Oh Good! I'd love to see a version which has updated graphics but otherwise identical to the original. OK... as well as an up-to-date adaptation. Suggest new game allows such a choice.

Re: Unwanted Regions
If you see an enemy stack building up across the border it seems it should be wiser to cross the border, destroy it and return, rather than wait for it to invade and ravage a region first. The current decadence penalty reverses this reasoning - surely this can't be right?

Re: Guns, Germs and Steel
I was fascinated by that book and I agree it would make a good basis for a game. However, that would most likely be a 4X game which takes a population from clan to empire over aeons of history, rather than a Grand Strategy game like FoGE that concentrates on a distinct period of history - a snapshot...

It's an irony of the ancient world that the best epidemic/famine survivors are eunuch slaves.

Re: Anyone having fun?
Maybe it would be useful to have a building ledger that lists what is being built in each region, with regions grouped by province and provinces color coded or separated in some obvious way, so you can see at a glance what is being built, and verify that you’re build something in every province. Th...

Re: Anyone having fun?
I never use the province interface, so maybe it's the problem. I want to go to every region and decide what they build. You say it's better to have all regions but 1 remain idle and use all the infrastructure pool to flash-build a building and then move to the next one. That means you'd want to see...

Re: Decadence is ruining this game for me...
I really like the decadence system, but I agree it's quite a learning curve. As others attest, I do OK if I don't expand too quickly, manage my slaves judiciously and build copious culture buildings. One of the early priorities is to build slave markets, especially in the capital, as that's importan...

Re: The Incredible Shrinking Farmers
This happens whenever there are only slaves in a region, it will never grow again. Yep, that's it - I've just encountered this again. I suggest that's a bug - during any population shrinkage, the last citizen should be preserved. Or else there should be some sort of population transfer mechanic.
