Re: Rating reset?????

Might be - so far Shenandoah has simply used Apple's services, avoiding setting up our own.

Re: Rating reset?????

Shenandoah operates no servers related to ratings: it all goes exclusively through Game Center.

Re: Rating reset?????

We are not happy about it at all. Apple knows, but can't imagine it is high on their priorities ATM :(

Re: Long games?

Some good questions on this thread. Frankly, Desert Fox was the one title we committed to do before extensive in-house paper testing. It's an important historical turning point, but posed lots of challenges to implement within the CiC framework (while maintaining historicity).

Re: Rating reset?????

We got a bunch of reset reports in the last few days. No change in anything at our end, so best guess is a Game Center issue. Really frustrating, but not much we can do about it until it's reproducible - we can't debug Apple's Game Center API's :(

Re: timed out versus rating

The way Game Center works is that devices linked to a particular account can change leader-boards for that account; others can't. So, when you score a win, your ranking changes, but your opponent's won't until they log in. I believe it also updates if they time out (by not checking in on a game for ...

Re: Disengagement

Disengagement occurs if: (1) the player initiating an offensive fails to maintain it; and (2) the other player does not seize the initiative. The Axis maintains an offensive by expending at least 1 supply each turn (after the first). The CW maintains by attacking or taking control of a space during ...

Moscow and Desert Fox have full game review. That feature hasn't been incorporated in Bulge.

Re: Fog of War or lack of

Hi John, Yep, Fog of War is big, from a simulation point of view. Though important to realism, only the hardest-core gamers tend to like it, however: it's hard. Particularly new players have a tough time figuring out what to do. Anyway, hope to incorporate it in a game in the future. All the best, N...

That would be very fun, but we're up to our eyeballs in Gettysburg ATM.

Now, if you feel like organizing one that would be wonderful - suspect there are a lot of people out there eager to test their strategies...

Re: Displaced Reinforcements

I believe the code implemented only moves the reinforcement site westward. If reinf were bumped from Arlon to Herbeumont, and then to Sedan, they would only arrive in Sedan thereafter. This makes sense from a simulation perspective: the would-be reinforcements can't teleport in one turn to whatever ...

Re: Axis in El Alamein

The Axis can certainly win on Victory Points, and can win directly by exiting enough units or so badly mauling the CW that they collapse. A non-VP victory is hard against a decent CW player though -- Rommel was, in fact, severely burdened by supply and replacement rate.

Re: Armor and deirs

Could have gone either way - the logic was that each space is really large relative to unit sizes - in a non-combat situation tanks could get around.

Re: Questions regarding install size

Hiya,

DF is about the same size as the other games.

As to release date: we can't control Apple's review process, but as soon as we have approval the date will be announced - hopefully not long to wait!

Best,
Nick

Re: Turn 2 or Turn 3 Victory

It is theoretically possible to capture on t2, but the Soviets would have to cooperate - a bit like a fool's mate in chess.

Sounds like you're an experienced player -- you might enjoy play vs a human on game center more than thrashing the poor AI!
