Re: Play balance

Race to the Meuse is actually more of an abstract game than a wargame, you don’t need to leave your forces in a great position to win.

Or do you mean the longer game?

Yes, Apple imposes a limit of 30 active matches.

30 is an Apple limit. I don’t know any way to increase it.

Re: Hard crash in iOS 8

I played a complete game vs the AI this morning (had to try out my new iPhone 6), so I don’t think it is necessarily iOS 8.0.

Can you sync your device and send a crash log? (I think the process is in the forum FAQ.)

Have you tried disabling Restore State in the Settings app (scroll down for Desert Fox)?

Re: Why I love the ‘Bulge’… and hesitate about the rest

Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, there are more units in Moscow. But not hugely more, and you won’t get to move all of them anyway (which is one of the great features of the game system — you have to prioritize). Desert Fox has more complicated rules for its campaign (Moscow is about the same as Bu...

Re: Why I love the ‘Bulge’… and hesitate about the rest

I didn’t see any reasons to hesitate in your post. Especially if you want an icy wind, check out Drive On Moscow (I think it’s my personal favorite of the Crisis In Command series).

Re: Game Center often losing connection when playing turn

I have web sites fail to load all the time, despite having a pretty good connection on my computer. Usually retrying works in those cases. There is no simple answer for network-related issues. You’re right, our games don’t keep retrying in the background. But there’s a variety of times we retr...

Re: Game Center often losing connection when playing turn

Pending Transmission is not always a bad thing, in many cases the app will be able to connect and send the turn. (We show that state so you know that your opponent hasn't gotten the turn — in other words, you are not waiting on them, just waiting for better network conditions.)

Re: Fog of War or lack of

Indeed, the Crisis in Command game system does have a chess-like feel (which is one of the reasons it works so well for Game Center play).

There are times that it can be acceptable, but when the AI plays by different rules than the human, it is often called cheating.

Re: Fog of War or lack of

Fog of war tends to conflict with the desire to have undoable actions (which can be pretty important when you play on a mobile device). It also makes the artificial intelligence a lot trickier, since it has to not only make good moves, but deduce where opponents might be so that it can make good mov...

Re: Desert Fox Rules Updates and Errata

I'm trying to understand the reason for lowering the point bar for the Ruwaseit Ridge scenario. … Am I missing something? The data from actual play from actual players (not just the much smaller playtest group, many of whom were playing us). I didn’t crunch the numbers, but they looked compelli...

Re: Gamecenter login error every time

I'm guessing you are on iOS 7, which is significantly slower to connect to Game Center on startup. (And 3G is also fairly slow networking, which could make this worse — you might have better luck on WiFi.) We tweaked this for Drive on Moscow and Desert Fox, but have not yet had the chance to do a ...

Re: Questions regarding install size

If you install via a computer, you'll need less storage on the device. It is true that installing on the device needs not only room for the game, but also for the compressed file that the App Store downloads. We don’t know that size until we see it in the App Store, but it is likely to be around 4...

Re: Joy & Frustration

Like Miguel said, we tried to make things robust to deal with network outages of various types. If this isn’t working, in some cases you can delete the entire game from your iPad, restore (from a backup on your computer), then reload the turn from Game Center.

Re: Chat feature?

Ah yes, turn annotation is not available in the free version of Bulge.

(A more full-blown chat is part of Drive on Moscow, since we can take advantage of iOS 7 specific functionality.)
