Re: Anglo-Saxon armour question . . .

On a related note, aren't Byzantine Skoutatoi & Archers way over armored compared to what is described in historical sources? In Nikephoros II Phokas's Praecepta Militaria (c.965), Byzantine infantry are described as wearing nothing more than a shirt and a turban for protection. In the game they ar...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

The tooltips report the combat factors on the basis of which square the chargers will be when the combat is resolved, not the one they are in before they charge.

Re: Liaison Tools Modding Questions

Thanks Richard You could of course manually edit the export file for each battle, to change the generals' ratings. It would only take a few seconds. You would need to do it before hitting the Empires Battle button in FOG2. You will find the export file at: /Documents/My Games/FieldOfGloryEmpires/SA...

Re: I don't understand the Mod's for this game

So if one downloads the Mercenary Mod, it only works by selecting the Module and then one selects either battles or campaigns? If that is the case then one can't use the Mercenary Mod and the TT Mod together, and none of the preexisting campaigns will work with either Mod? Same with the TT Mod Bann...

Re: Liaison Tools Modding Questions

I hope to achieve the following by tweaking the Liaison Tools file however as a non programmer / scripter I'm hesitant to change the file without seeking guidance from those cleverer (and more experienced) than I am... I've obviously created a Mod folder in the appropriate place That won't work as ...

Re: Custom Campaigns - More Settings?

One thing I would like is the Allies a bit more restricted by an actual Allied Leader, it would improve immersion if you can´t distribute them all over the place, but have to use them as a distinct separate contingent. So the advantage of having Allies that can compensate for some weakness would co...

Re: LOS question

The engine LOS algorithm isn't perfect and will allow such shots.

The height units are arbitrary and do not represent any particular unit of height.

Re: Map oddity . . .

It is an issue with the way some streams meet some marshes which we have been unable to display correctly with the available tiles. It looks ugly but it is valid terrain - a stream draining into a small lake draining into a marsh. Fortunately it doesn’t happen very often.

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

The answer is: Non-light cavalry will always evade if charged in flank or rear. That's not always true, if there's no other enemy unit nearby non-light cavalry is pretty likely to stand up to the flank charge from light cav. Then that has probably changed in some patch, because that was the officia...

Re: FOGE to FOG II conversion question for Richard

its going to be the effect of this (from 11.2.3 of the manual): In larger battles the unit conversion ratio is down-scaled to keep the number of units manageable in effect some smaller units may have been removed as part of this process. If I recall there is a random element here (see the rest of t...

Is there a consolidated / updated manual and/or consolidated POA tables?
Sadly not. All changes since release are, however, detailed in the PatchNotes document.

This can be viewed from the launcher.

Re: Avars 558-631 AD . . .

It is also worth noting that though they use several different models, all units called "Nomad Light Horse" have exactly the same stats as each other, as do all units called "Irregular Foot" and all units called "Light Javelin Horse" (in the open beta). With a finite budget, we need to be able to us...

Re: Avars 558-631 AD . . .

In the "Decline and Fall" Field of Glory table top army list book the Avars have their own Avar Light Cavalry, plus from 558 to 631 AD they can have subject Bulgar Light Cavalry. So what we see in the FOG2 lists are these two different types. They two types use different models, but have the same n...

It has got Nomad Light Horse Archers twice in the army list, once as 0/2 and once as 1+0/3. The other two Avar armies do not have this. Is it a mistake? In the "Decline and Fall" Field of Glory table top army list book the Avars have their own Avar Light Cavalry, plus from 558 to 631 AD they can ha...

Re: The Return of ZOC

My understanding is that the new ZOC coding seeks to avoid the issue that was debated some time ago; the issue of a unit getting the ability to "choose" which ZOC to ignore or not when it was trapped in two opposing units Primary ZOCs. What I am curious to see is if this means there will still be a...
