While I've yet to win one as the Axis  I'm playing a few games with 2.0 as Axis (glutton for punishment) and I am doing better playing Axis in 2.0 than I did in the previous version. Partly because I've gotten more proficient with the Axis  , partly because I think the changes in 2.0 ...

convoys in 2.0

Tried the manual first before posting.

Convoys in 2.0 have a movement of 12 when I mouse over the convoy. But in the game they appear to move 16 hexes. Is the number of hexes they can move a random number, or is it a new fixed number of 16?

Cheers.

I would like to see movement handled a bit more as it is in Panzer Corps where you can move a unit, then move another, then go back to the first unit and attack if you choose to. Don't like the fact that once you "take your hand off the piece" you can no longer move it. Especially if I attack and de...

What type of gamer am I? An atypical one, I'd say. But if I have to choose, I'd rank myself majoring in 7 -Specialist with a minor in 4 - Competitive. I've a general interest in history of all kinds but am drawn to the American Civil War and WWII. Playing games is one of my hobbies, but it has to be...

Or at the very least reduce the convoys by the amount of the lost UK PP revenues.

No, there is no reason an upgrade should not carry over. If you can send a save before and after it would be very useful. Impatient fellow that I am, I retried it and this time the upgrade did carry over, but in doing so I overwrote the previous game. If this happens again I will send the save. Tha...

upgrades not carrying over to next scenario?

Played the first 1939 scenario on colonel level. During the scenario I upgraded my two core tank corps to Panzer 38(t)a and got a decisive victory. When the Norway scenario loaded the two tanks were both Panzer IIc. I'm sure I did not upgrade the Auxillery tank corp which was a Panzer III. Is this W...

I stated my objection to Western Allied units in Russia (and Russian units in Egypt, etc.) a few versions back, which I think helped prompt the implementation of supply limitations/restrictions between the Allies. I don't mind the current system, but I do think a complete prohibition on Western All...

Thanks for the quick answer.

I've seen in other forums a sticky that lists things that aren't in the manual. I'd find that useful for this forum and wonder what other's think?

decisive victory and prestige

What are the advantages and disadvantages of winning a decisive victory? I'm new to the game and playing on Colonel level. From what I read here, decisive victory opens up other paths in the campaign, yes? But is it true that a marginal victory awards you a bonus in prestige points (I saw the amount...

Bravo

Max,

Well played so far. This game has the potential to be as interesting as your North Amercian gambit against Panzer General. Keep it up and thanks for yet another entertaining AAR.

Regards.

Attack and defence bonuses I reckon. The overlapping doesn't average the bonuses in GS 2.0 anymore. Units use the best leader in range.

Thanks _augustus_,

Looks like I better take a closer look at the mother of all manuals.

Wow, I like this new pz IV icon much more, then previous. Folks may know this already, but the new icons are from Panzer Corps. Methinks Slitherine is slyly promoting the new game, which I just bought and am enjoying and recommend. Question: In one of my PBEMs my opponent is playing Axis and he is ...

I am probably (read, definitely) missing something in the attack on France because in my experience the French player rails all his garrisons 2-deep to the Seine, buys leaders and effectively prevents anything approaching blitzkreig occurring. A direct assault on Paris is required or a slow flankin...

Jay,

Just curious, why does the Axis oil stockpile show up as "-" in your screen shots. You can't be out of oil at this point?

Edit: Ah, never mind, I see that you are not using "oil consumption."

Re: Just bought the game, one question....

So my question is, what do others suggest playing after the tutorial? A game against a human. The GS mod does not make any improvements to the AI, rather it is designed for PBEM play. So my suggestion is to jump into a game with another player newish to the game. You can pick up some bad habits aga...

Best of luck. My computer recently got hit with a virus so bad I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS and everything else.

"With all that said, I do think that between two equally match non-elite players (i.e., good -vs- good or average -vs- average) and with GSv1.07 that the allied player will win at least 3 out of 4 of those games." This certainly puts things in persective, and it will be sweet once I win as Axis, th...
