They are wierd, but it all averages out fine I find, and provides sufficient tactical surprises to keep combat from being dull. I've grown to like it.

more often than not they get squished between the two lines. That's another thing that bugs me. Though not just in the game, but how it really worked out. What happened to skirmishers when the two battlelines closed? Did they get 'squished', or did they filter through the ranks of their heavies? As...

Skirmishing

For me intuitively, skirmishing does not feel quite right in the game as it stands. It could be the way I am playing it, or it could be the combat mechanics. It boils down to the ease with which they are caught by MF and HF. Examples: I find that too often I send my javelinmen against a line of MF o...

I'm still pretty green, I know, but I actually don't think there is anything to fix in the MP system, other than a better chat facility, and some form of personal record of wins/losses (maybe a download offering from the server?). Looking at this thread, the topics raised are: 1. Not enough open gam...

I think so. You confused me with:

"I think the only armies from the original that arnt represented by DAG lists are early Germans, Caledonians and Britains" implying that there were DAG lists for the Romans and Carthos etc.

Thanks for the reply. That's a shame. I think the only armies from the original that arnt represented by DAG lists are early Germans, Caledonians and Britains, likly which will be covered in Legions Triumphant? Lost me. If most are covered by DAG lists - where are they? ROR? I don't have that.

Vanilla FOG DAG armies

Apologies if this is really obvious, but I can't find the answer. How do you create DAG armies with the troops from the original game. I can only select from the expansions.

I just know I am going to get shot down on these, but I don't care :) ... For Scenario Designers: 1. Fixed Units till a specified or variable turn, or enemy entering a specified area on the map. 2. Late entry of BGs onto the battlefield till a specified or variable turn, or enemy entering a specifie...

Ah, This is not quite what I am refering to (though I have seen this occasionally). My issues lies with a feeling (I have no figures to back this up), that since 1.2.8, it seems that it is easier to catch evaders than before. Particularly when they have their backs to the enemy after evading. Going ...

Perfect reply, Morbio. I was unaware of the MF/HF bug. Once fixed, it will make a lot more sense. No point sending skirmishers against LF and Cav, but we shouldn't be so vulnerable to the slower units. It's caught me out a number of times, so until it's fixed, my DAG armies will be archer heavy.

I really enjoy the new evade logic now that I have played enough games to get a feel for it , have caught quite a few LF and hit em from behind, although have been on the receiveing end as well.... I'm not! Not yet at least. Haven't got my head how javelinmen can be of any use anymore. Dutifully, I...

MP - Results

Loving the results stats in MP. BUT, just completed a game where my opponent and I finished very close. I lost with just 1 point missing. Still my % kill score was only 0%, and his was 100%. Can't be right. Also, I've noticed that old games get deleted from the table. Will we have access to a full h...

Not a Beta - and installation went perfectly, though I guess non regulars to the forum may not have spotted that a double upgrade from 1.28 to 1.2.9 to 1.3.0 is required.

Just had my backside handed to me as Krateros in a SP run through of Hellespont. Tough scenario.

I for one, would buy a campaign add-on. Would not need to be heavy like Europa Universalis with spies and diplomats and stuff like that. Just a means of moving armies about a 2D theatre map, keeping track of BG numbers and some means of producing/buying the various unit types.

It a thought.

Its a minor bit of UI improvement, but one I support, just to save a few seconds getting to the desktop/start menu and locating the icon. Your mouse is already there as you want to see how many turns are in the queue, so a right click producing a selectable list of each game and how many turns would...

Overall, I like double moves. It has really improved my Verneuil scenario, making the Fench flanking moves realistic and entertaining, and balancing the scenario a bit better. It has also improved the battle of Pharsalus which I am currently playing MP. The armies are set far apart and closing with ...
