Re: Sengoku Jidai - The question of control

I am still in the learning phase here but I love the system though I think it would be a lot easier if the UI was more finely developed to help tackling the complexity of these mechanics. Here's what I learned so far: I have noticed that patience pays and it's better to be attacked than to attack wh...

The riddle of Ueda

New Tenka Fubu (Daimyo difficulty) I loaded my save normally and I mistakenly attacked Ueda from Gifu with my bigger army finding out I had 8 total units and the Takeda had 18 units, impossible to win here... ... so I reloaded the game, merged my 2 armies in Gifu and this time attacked again Ueda in...

Re: Campaign: Raising new Army

Existing armies are automatically reinforced each winter - i.e. all the units in the army are brought up to full strength. The cost is automatically deducted from your treasury after tax has been collected at the end of the year. If you want to refit/reinforce the units before then, you can, but on...

Re: Campaign: Raising new Army

What confuses me is that the newly created armies have all the top (I think the top 6) unit types taken with #1 as if they were default They are default (compulsory). How many default units there are varies with the particular army list and the points available. The purpose of this is so that armie...

Re: Campaign: Raising new Army

What confuses me is that the newly created armies have all the top (I think the top 6) unit types taken with #1 as if they were default, along with the Honjin and I can't actually buy new troops for the existing armies (which are in newly conquered provinces of course, that's why). When the army is ...

Re: Campaign: Raising new Army

What I still don't understand is where the manpower/funds come from when I split an army. When splitting a Honjin is created and the top troops are spawned... this creates a new army just like you were creating it from scratch. I suppose you have to pay for those crack troops and new Honjin but you ...

Re: Campaign: Raising new Army

So the system does not allow me to, say, muster a Yari Ashigaru unit in a province and move it next month to another province to merge with an army... individual units can't exist outside of the army structure. Right? The good side is I was worried the top 6 crack troops were being lost when 2 armie...

Campaign: Raising new Army

I was under the impression I could muster new troops in any of my owned provinces and that I could possibly add more troops to an already existing army but maybe I was wrong. Provinces with a standing army can only SPLIT the existing army. Provinces without an army can create a new one but this army...

Re: UI feedback

I'm still looking at the "Unused" feature that highlights units that have 0 AP. On one occasion it had a general so it's possible that the only move allowed was to move the general from that unit to another unit but I've also seen the 0AP highlighted without the general so there's something here. In...

Re: UI feedback

Are there any weather and/or fatigue effects being contemplated in the mechanics? I certainly don't see them on the map... We are trying not to make the game more complex. I know it's another layer of complexity but Yoshimoto was killed by Shingen because there was a storm... it is a critical issue...

Re: Rallying during combat??? Wth!

So units can't rally without a general with them? If I am not mistaken they do rally without the general but I suppose the general helps them rally. I've seen units DISPERSED while actually still routing (and a clear path to the map edge). What decides when a unit is dispersed and when it continues ...

Re: UI feedback

I know most of my lesser criticism is going to be surpassed once I memorize everything and I also know graphics is not the main ingredient of the game but if the UI can be made better (as I said in the Steam Forums this is REALLY an extremely complex game) it would help a lot. We're just talking of ...

UI feedback

When I hover the mouse over a unit I see its portrait and info on the left bottom side... but when a unit is selected I see it on the bottom right side. It's very common to have 2 units visible but in the japanese campaign the unit types are identical and there's no telling which is yours and which ...

Re: Rallying during combat??? Wth!

I've just won 2 battles in a row with the 1st level of difficulty. Yesterday I tried the Daimyo but it's impossible... earlier today I gradually moved it down. The first level is too easy and with the second I'm in big trouble. It's very good to know the AI doesn't cheat, so ultimately it's the troo...

Re: Rallying during combat??? Wth!

I'm having troubles understanding how useful the Honjin can be since he can't move and his radius is basically fixed in place. That really helps the defender but the attacker has no use for it... the AI doesn't seem to protect it at all but I haven't got the skill to go and kill him, yet. I did it o...
