Re: Raising new army in the campaign question?

But this means your frontline army which is badly damaged and can't take reinforcements piecemeal is going to face the broken enemy army which is merged with a newly created army just at the front line. The enemy army has as BULK the strongest samurai units which are the mandatory ones whereas you h...

Re: Fog of war

You did not mention that units can be hidden behind terrain (forests, villages, hills) as well as in it. And that all units can, not just some. ;) The game is intended to fairly easy to play, but hard to master. Increasing the fog of war significantly would probably go against the basic design prin...

Re: 2 small glitches

Well there are instances in the engine where the AI takes control of your troops: rout-pursuit. This would require a check to make the AI take over in the surprise circumstance... this is not much different from the AI taking over when 2 units idle one next to the other. I think especially in presen...

Re: With Genpei war announced, I got a few questions

I am more or less in your same situation because I've been playing only the campaign, only the tenka fubu (only once the HojovsMongol) and nothing else except the 3 tutorials. :-) I think the last in timeline is the SJ which ends with Sekigahara, therefore Shimabara, being post-Sekigahara, is not th...

Re: 2 small glitches

Yes this is an issue, but the alternative would be to let them move freely - e.g. charge another unit's flank across the front of the hidden unit. The alternative is to make the hidden unit turn (if needed) and instantly charge as soon as an enemy gets in touch: regardless of the unit's original fa...

2 small glitches

Just noticed: 1) enemy hidden units extend their ZOC around so that your troops, who haven't seen them, have a restricted move/attack stance. This effectively negates the hiding of the enemy unit because you know where it is when the tooltip tells you that you can't do one move or another. In other ...

Re: Gempei Kassen, a new DLC for Sengoku Jidai!

The campaign system is a gold mine for a battle system such as this one: AWESOME. If the DLC is sold at a reasonable price, this campaign can only add flavor but I think the BIG part of the game has yet to be built: diplomacy, treason, events and player choices at the political/economical level, sec...

Re: The end...

Hats off, I pulled out a miracle here!!!! http://i.imgur.com/sFNswNO.jpg Well I don't like the artificial handicap on the winning side but I've beaten it (by miracle) this time. There could be hundreds of possible solutions to extend the campaign by unpredictable events (revolts, betrayal of a gener...

The end...

This is the current situation. http://i.imgur.com/s8cJyQS.jpg My best army 1034 will face 1157 (both armies plus auxilliaries) and I'll take a big defeat... but what happens if my second army ALSO loses? That I am pushed on the defensive: I have almost conquered anything and the Takeda should now be...

Of course you have to remember that the Japanese C-In-C is customarily immobile.
Which is why the side that strays farther from its Honjin is at disadvantage... on the other hand, if you get close to the enemy's Honjin and kill it, you're up for a sweet victory (it happened very rarely here).

Well don't get demoralized ... you'll find a way... meanwhile those peasants have beaten me big time. Their numbers ... overwhelming. :) http://i.imgur.com/fRXzJT6.jpg Every time: just that final round where you know it can go either way... this time it went their way. Re: Possible campaign BUG (unable to muster new army)

Yes, absolutely correct. Thanks for clearing that out. I'm afraid the Takeda won't be much of an opponent if their armies come with peasants... with or without a particular check as I suggested, are you sure the AI knows those units are peasants and can't be employed with normal tactics? You guys ha...

Re: Possible campaign BUG (unable to muster new army)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you're right ... didn't think about the cost of the default units, that's why. Despite conquering Osaka, I most certainly can't pull enough taxes because my two armies are quite big. The Takeda on the other side are raising units with lots of paesants (hence the suggestion about ...

Possible campaign BUG (unable to muster new army)

Early Spring 1572, Daimyo level. My main army is in Gifu (800+) and I just captured Osaka with my second army, the other Takeda province I captured is Ueda. My funds are 452 and I am trying to muster a new army in Okazaki (800+ manpower). When I go to the unit selection screen the funds listed are 0...

Re: Historical Armies

Well no, not really no. :-) http://i.imgur.com/Z7yw8CX.jpg Some games actually have a manpower pool (which SJ has in form of generalized manpower). In our case we could use a generalized pool IF the japanese society didn't have a rigid caste system. In other words, the concept you can muster a ronin...

Historical Armies

I've fought a battle where the enemy was numerically superior but its troop quality was low and won 40%-0... the main confrontation instead was roughly equivalent in numbers and quality (9000 vs 8000) and it turned out to be the most entertaining and challenging battle since I own the game. No doubt...

Re: AI behavior in 1.28

It was very small indeed. The chances of hitting one particular man in a hunded is 1% IF the unit is hit... but for that man we're talking of a 66% armor (not 33%) factoring the role of the Hatamoto who took the arrows first. Besides, I think you're underestimating the new AI. It's very very very ha...
