Re: Draws . . .

I have two opposing experiences with draws or likely to be draws in the league. Let me just say there are draws and draws. I will post full commentary and pics once the games are over!

Re: Draws . . .

After saying that the devil offers restarts I do have a situation in one of my league games where my opponent is sitting up on a 300 metre hill with practically his entire army.. I am moving around but with only 24 turns I may not be able to make a lot of progress. I will post a pic when the battle ...

Re: Cannae: Countering a wide Roman formation.

I lost as Rome. The Carthaginian infantry was in the end too strong for me. I forget who I played but the mass of Carthaginian cavalry did well in killing and diverting troops away from the main line.

Suggestions for Improvements

Great game but a number of things bug me a bit. I have mentioned a few before but will put everything in a list now! 1. Camera The camera is a real annoyance for me. Units will sometimes fight in the corner of my screen and then it moves on before I know what has happened. I am using the little casu...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Let’s just all relax. Restarts are part of the rules for this season. We have discussed the main issues and everyone can make their own minds up about it. Some players will just state clearly at the beginning of a battle that they don’t accept restarts and that is up to them. Other players may well ...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

The thing is, sometimes you get a situation where if either side advances, it's suicide. Rather than agree a boring stalemate or force one player to resign themselves to playing at a steep disadvantage, you just agree another map where advancing doesn't mean certain doom. You mean not make it rando...

I actually used the word ‘movement’ today to describe the people in agreement with me! All good fun! Let’s not get too cranky!

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

It is a great league by the way to turn to more positive things! Thanks for organising. Just think this restart business is a bit of a clanger..

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Well, I don't think it is in my head. I have talked to a few experienced wargamers and they say that restarts should never have been introduced because they are likely to cause arguments. Which is precisely what I think. In the example I gave there was the preconception that a restart should have be...

Re: Cannae: Countering a wide Roman formation.

I would like to report that Cannae is absolutely going to the wire. It is currently about 26% casualties for both sides. Roman Triarii are getting ripped apart. All the Carthaginian cav are causing trouble on the Roman right flank. Reserves going in now!

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Yes, but this in my opinion is the problem with the whole idea of restarts - there is some kind of expectation that it is wrong to say no to the offer. It is a random map and all players should play on what is before them. If it is hilly for phalanxes then it is hilly. I honestly think it is ridicul...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Well, you say it won’t happen very often. This is only my second league game and I have been asked to restart. Let’s hope we don’t get many more requests.

We are playing on the original battlefield. His army was set back but set up.

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I am trying to explain what the person was wanting.. Yes, the other player was misinterpreting the rules about a restart. Although, as I have stated, I don’t like the idea of any restart as it is a random map and we should play on what we have before us. That is my personal view on that. I then expl...
