Re: Tone down Missile Troops?
It is almost impossible to lose with Persians against Greeks when Hilly terrain is chosen. The Greeks have no chance in combat downhill in rough or difficult going and get shot to pieces if they don't close. The math doesn't seem to work out though. I mean Immortals are freakin 75 points and Sparab...

Re: Auto-evasion
Right, its not some sort of major catastrophic issue, and its something that will get picked up by the player base as time goes on. But it does make a difference. I just finished a turn in which I had Velites charge some Levy skirmishers with the expectation that they would flee and clear a path for...

Re: Auto-evasion
I will quote my own post that was in response to some similar sentiments. That is a fine sentiment but is not consistent with the rest of the game layout of information. Ex. Knowledge troop counts in units, knowledge of morale levels, and knowledge of combat percentages. It also is something that ca...

Don't worry, once you get more games under you belt, the speed thing won't be an issue anymore.
In fact, sometimes i wish it could be sped up

Re: Tone down Missile Troops?
Mass bowfire is among the most annoying things to deal with but Bowman are exceedingly terrible in hand to hand and are usually not nimble enough to evade combat for long. Try screening your main hoplite line with skirmishing light troops. Even if they rout from missile casualties, they will not sta...

Re: Getting the best out of Triarii?
They are really good as long as you don't put them in situations where they have to face off against a very large unit where combat strength modifiers rob them of their power. IE throwing them up against Hoplites would be a waste. They are also outstanding for prolonged defense against powerful unit...

Re: A Couple of Questions
Losses in red denote that the unit suffered a loss in close combat and is forced to take a cohesion test. Disordered units is discussed in detail here http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=477&t=81035 I will have a series of videos discussing these factors as a beginner's guide sometimes t...

Can we get an update on the final game of round one? It is holding up the entire event. A week has passed since we were told it was just a few more days.

Re: Confused about the idea of a Quality: Raw unit
Raw typically represent hastily raised units with less training than standard training. Think emergency levies who are given the gear and basics of the formation but with little to no real time spent practicing compared to their contemporaries. Rabble would be basically conscripting people en masse ...

Letter to Emperor Hidde: "I beg to present you as a Winter Solstice gift, the city of Ganzak, one hundred and fifty heavy thousand unruly Tribesman with plenty of Javelins, and also about twenty-five thousand barrels of wine." Ptolomaic Kingdom traps and defeats the Atropatene forces in the mountain...

Re: Question regarding effects of Disorder
To Temple: One thing to note is that disorder takes away the Deep Pike keyword and it screws pikes over! Also severely disordered starts robbing a whole bunch of units of their PoA abilities. So just keep that in mind. To RBS: Let me preface all of what follows as not an attack on your design choice...

Re: Suggestions for what to do with that extra general or tw
With the new update, when preparing for a custom battle sometimes I'm offered an extra general or two or three. And I have to say, I'm not quite sure what are some of the better ways to utilize them. I know that, for instance, keeping one general behind the battle line will help keep my line units ...

Re: Quest regarding effects of Disorder
Disorder carries a 22% penalty to combat post PoA summation and severely disordered carries a 44% penalty. The exact effect on win loss draw results is not precisely known, that is another one of those black box mechanics in the game that is deemed to be not required to know. But the effect is very ...

Re: Anyone else think the pushback system is a bit overdone?
That might explain a lot. Online, people simply do not allow isolated units to just go unpunished like that where a unit has a chance to go it alone for multiple squares. No one is going to pass up on juicy flanks at any time. An unsupported units breaking through usually gets punished within a one ...

Re: Anyone else think the pushback system is a bit overdone?
To Jay13's point about troops being unwilling to continue to push past the line of battle, there is one recorded battle in history that I know of where the battle line definitely broke apart into 3 separate pieces, resolved their own individual smaller engagements before line dancing to a relatively...
