OK got it. For non campaign games the squads file will show you what they are the vast majority are the standard scores for each classification. It appears as if my original issue could have been a rounding error as it was not a campaign game. Thanks again for your detailed & prompt replies..really ...

Thanks again for the explanation and sharing the relevant code. So effectively the classifications capture a potential range of values that are determinants of quality ie not all 'superior' troop are equally superior. Are there ways to determine what the units actual 'Elan' and 'Experience' are from...

My read of this However, if an Augustus (as represented by the C-in-C) is killed during battle against another Augustus , the battle ends immediately with the killed Augustus as the loser and all the provinces controlled by the killed Augustus being conquered and taken over by the victor of the batt...

Thanks for the explanation Richard. I had been under the impression that quality was simply determined by the units classification ie average, raw, superior etc but it looks like there is more to it. Thanks for sharing rs2excelsior. Looks like we should use that scenario when setting up. My reading of the rules though is that this would not apply in 'Foreign Invasions' as the death of the C-in-C rule only applies when 2 would be emperors are on the field.

As I just said to Warg on Steam, my argument wouldn't be against the ZoC as to rallying next to or immediately behind your opponent's forces. In a lot of wargaming rules, rallying from routing occurs a certain distance away from the enemy or there is less likelihood of rallying according to promixi...

Fragged units exert a ZoC because your troops on the ground have no way to look at them and say "aha, those men are Fragmented, they cannot charge!"
