Re: Overly Generous Heroes Assignment

I can produce the bug pretty consistently by taking a campaign started before 1.20 patch and at a scenario transition requesting a rules change from 1.2 to classic. Then I start ascseniario and basically every hit causes a hero. I have not tested whether it is import to have had a campaign from befo...

Re: Overly Generous Heroes Assignment

The problem was severe and constant in that every time I got a kill (or maybe a hit) I got a leader awarded. Pretty much seemed like 100%. Became really quite laughable. So wasn't just that I was getting a few more... I was getting *every time*. I have a save file fyi. I have worked around by restar...

Re: Overly Generous Heroes Assignment

Thank you for reviewing so promptly. Glad I wasn't hallucinating. Do you still need a zip file of my save game of it? What email do I send it to?

Re: Overly Generous Heroes Assignment

I hope this can be resolved because I just abandoned playing the campaign I have played since 1939 because it is so unbalancing. I have a save file if slitherine would like to see. Quite out of control.

Overly Generous Heroes Assignment

I am being assigned a hero almost constantly after I modified my difficulty settings for DLC 1941. I set AI at 2, said keep original rules, kept difficulty at field marshall. This is definitely not normal behavior. It is unbalancing the game since I am acquiring 5 or 6 heroes a turn. I am fully upda...

Re: The Right Next Grand Campaign

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Very helpful. I have run across PG mods in past that make fancy units expensive and I like that approach because then one has a more historical force mix because one can't afford the rarer beasts.

The Right Next Grand Campaign

Hi, I enjoyed Africa Korps at General level in "iron man" mode (no reload (normally ;-) )). I found it to be an excellent challenge forcing me to play very carefully to succeed. I have now just gone back to my 1941 Grand Campaign (just did Yugoslavia) and on these settings found it a push over so fa...

Re: Iron man

My problem is immersion. If I reload too many times I start to lose the feeling that I am actually accomplishing anything. Plus it starts feeling 'unrealistic' (silly for a game as unrealistic as PC :-) ). I was able to play the old PG successfully in iron man. One thing that makes it harder in PC i...

Re: Iron man

Impressed. I'm an old PG hand but not as good as you clearly. More artillery a I guess and I might try sticking some sacraficial weak units in front more...

Iron man

I'm curious as to what level of challenge in Afrika Korps folks have been able to pull off Iron Man. I define iron man as playing the campaign with no reloads and (ideally) encountering scenarios for the first time. I have been unable to pull this off at Colonel (or whatever is the level 1 above the...

Re: Randomness Compromise

Belgian infantry. Now that's interesting. IT was in fact in the low countries. Hunh. I want to register my complaint right now that at this stage of the war Belgians did not have nuclear tipped rockets :-) I find that completely unrealistic till late 1944.

Re: Randomness Compromise

There is the possibility it was rain.. though I was on to that issue and starting to check. I guess a fair question is do others see these 0-7 kind of results? If not then I am off base and not being observant enough and must go back to tank school :-) (or only fight in the desert ;-) )

Re: Randomness Compromise

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies. -- I am only suggesting this as a possible option like 'chess' option. certainly not as core. I understand you have design intent there :-) -- IVD etc -- good points. I'm aware of the differences. I was upset with IVD vs infantry in the open early war (when ade...

Re: Randomness Compromise

Ah! The explanation of the mechanic makes it clear to me. You are rolling a lot of dice. So there is not an immediately obvious way to avoid some very extreme results on rare occasions. Well that helps with understanding. I suppose you could still achieve the more moderate result though by simply ca...

Randomness Compromise

Hi, I'm an owner of the original PC as well as 3 of its add ons (I played through most of the original PC and fully through 1939 and 1940). I am also an original player/owner of the the PG series as well as Open General. My preference would be to play more PC series than any of the other titles at t...

Current AI

How would you say the AI compares to the original vanilla game AI? So the current AI understands all the changes?

I found the original AI pretty weak..interested to hear if it has improved.
