Re: Later dismounted knights' heavy weapon capability?

Top Down design trumps Bottom Up considerations. The idea is to get the right relative effect between the different Medieval troop-types. Troops in different eras are classified to get the right relative effects within their own era. We clearly aren't going to agree on this, but we are happy with o...

Re: Later dismounted knights' heavy weapon capability?

In this instance we are treating knightly swords as Heavy Weapon, because they did use relatively large swords and it gets the right effect. This is a game design decision to get the effect we want, not lack of historical knowledge or a mistake. It is part of the top-down (rather than bottom-up) de...

Later dismounted knights' heavy weapon capability?

In many 13th-early 14th century manuscripts, most of the dismounted knights fought with sword and spears, although some of the manuscripts like the maciejowski crusader bible showed some heavy weapons(axe, mace, glaives) used on the horses by knights but they were in the minority even compared to the ot...

Re: Pavises appeared too early of the main games's period

As you know from previous threads, we do have a finite budget for models and so most of the models have had to cover a wider date range than they are strictly accurate for. God,I really hope you open a donate channel to let the players support the game.Or like some other games sell the supporter pa...

Pavises appeared too early of the main games's period

After I played the game in passed two days I saw some army lists which covered the 13th century started use the pavise-armed spearmen.I thought what I read and what I saw in many manuscripts the medieval pavises first appeared in early-mid 14th century,it's too early for the 13th century. You should ...

Re: The game should split a French 1200-1319AD list instead of 1155-1319AD

Because the 1155ad list still use the old style infantry unit models(Who still used kite shields, and I saw many of them existed from the 11th century lists)to even 14th century, that's really ahistorical. And you splited the German lists when started at 1200AD then they started to used the new infant...

Kite shield spearmen in wrong period

I think the game use the 11th century's kite shield spearmen(both armoured and unarmored) models to the 13th century even early 14th century(like the French army list)is not accurate. In 13th century the kite shields were realy seen and in that time soldiers were more perfer the heater shields. You sh...

Re: Chapel de fer(kettle/pot helm) problems

I would definitely donate to get more armies and time periods out of richard's game system and get them quickly (if it could ever help it). Not sure I would donate to see different shapes of those soup plates on my soldiers' heads though, even if I understand those who wish to push historical accur...

It's just a matter of budget. Obviously if they had a larger budget they could afford to have period specific armor changing every 50 years - but they don't.
So I do hope the devs winning the lottery or let the players to donate them.If they open a donation channel.

Re: Chapel de fer(kettle/pot helm) problems

One form of Kettle Hat is there for some of the units. This is from a preview picture in a wargamer site article that since their transition is no longer easily accessible: https://i.imgur.com/fa8ynDE.jpg See: https://web.archive.org/web/20201216130708/https://www.wargamer.com/articles/field-of-glo...

Chapel de fer(kettle/pot helm) problems

I watched some game beta videos lastweek but I noticed there were very less unit with the chapel de fer.I saw many 13th century manuscripts and chapel de fers were very common among the soldiers especially the foot soldiers, but in game I saw only the knights and defensive spearmen(armoured) wore the...

You dont have to abandon foge, just download the mod from Frenchdude in these forums ( mod section ) . The mod extract the units from foge to fog2 tabletop mod. Then you will have all the traditional units you ever hoped for.
Table top means TT mod or what?

Re: How to recruit cataphracts as Seleucids?

The same question is bugging me concerning other units that the Seleucids have in FOG II game, but are not available in FOG Empires, for example: Thorakites, Thureophoroi, Xystophoroi.... You know, because those are two games made by different devs, and the ageod don't wanna take more time on the uni...
