Re: Sambre-like scenario

""We used 28mm figures, with a 30mm MU on a 6x4 table.
The Romans had small points advantage, but of course most of their army started off table.""

............. Using a 6x4 table I recommend using 1"=1MU. They game will work better ...

Re: First run out: Early Visigoths vs Spartans

Must have been "Very-Very-Early-Visigoths" ..... hehehehe

Thanks for the report. I am awaiting my copy of V2. We are playing Macedonians vs Greeks on Saturday. Whished we had V2 to try. Although I don't think V2 would impact this game too much???

Re: What did they go for in the end?

Persian spara against protected hoplites under V1 tended to result in hoplite victories. But the Pesian cavalry and the effective use of Immortals was always a complication for the Greeks to deal with. The Spara might have been "scrarificed" ... but Persians were no walk over. I worry about the V2 c...

Re: Swedes again

It was another sad day .... Cromwell fell again as the cheesy Finnish Cavalry rode him and his "determined to die" horse into dust. That puts me at 0-18 or so ... with a dead Cromwell in a good 17 of those games. I am convinced that there is simply no way any of the ECW armies can beat the Swedes in...

Re: Swedes again

Speaking of Swedes ... I face Gustav's army this coming saturday. Yes, its Cromwell and the NMA in yet another forlorn hope of defeating the Swedes. My last game against Gustav was a close one with my NMA Horse beating Gustav's best. But there simply is no answer for his salvo foot. At least the arm...

Help With Principate Light Archers

I finally have a dozen stands of LF Auxiliary archers to "back up" my Legions with. The army list mentions treating attached LF-bow as if they were the same as the Legionaries they are with. But there is also a separate stat line for them in the army list. How do you create these BGs that have, say,...

Re: Break Off in the JAP

Out of interest, particularly because there has been a fair bit of talk lately about sections of the rules not being written clearly enough to stop rules lawyers wilfully misinterpreting them to their advantage... What was your opponent's justification for arguing that break-off is voluntary? Looks...

Break Off in the JAP

We had an issue come up this weekend. We have always played that the mounted break off from steady foot was not voluntary but mandatory. A player questioned this. He wanted to stay in contact. Is the cavalry break of a required move in the JAP. We think it is.

Thanks

Re: Version Control/Primacy

Leaving out the tournament folks ... During a normal game we often never open the rule book unless an unusal situation comes up. I read more of the rules after the game to help clarify issues from the previous game(s). We discuss any mistakes we have been making before starting the next game. We do ...

Re: Field of Glory 2.0 - coming October 18th!

I may have recruited a new player (maybe two) this Saturday. They wanted to know about purchse of the rule book. Any idea when V2 might be ready in the paper version. I really can't recommend the other version yet. And are the army list books (v1) still available?

Thanks

Re: Changes to the Ancient Spanish list

Thanks for the info. So is it v3 that might have detailed changes? The original plan for V2 was no major list changes before the decision to go with the digital publication. Now that the lists and rules can easily be updated electronically rather than require a reprinting, list changes do not need ...

Re: How do Burglars View Miniatures?

Most burglars are supporting a drug habit. They want items that they can easily sell or pawn. Notebook computers, an I-Pad (with your new V2 rules), phones, other electronics, a smaller TV, coins, nice looking jewlery, firearms, and all the copper they can carry. Box your soldiers in large container...

Hi guys, we're trying to do this in the best way possible which is time consuming and expensive. After a lot of work we are happy to confirm that the print on demand version of Field of Glory Ancients & Medieval 2.0 will be a full colour hardback edition. We're hoping this is acceptable! :) Cheers ...

Re: Field of Glory Ancients version 2

Before I start to whine again ... Just exactly what is a printable version of V2 going to be? Will it be something similar to the playtest rules that we used after downloading and printing or some sort of print on demad thing where we order it and it comes by mail, printed and bound (in color)? Is a...
