Re: Air recon air defence values

Note that there is a diminishing return on strength points destroyed as the defender loses strength.
So the last few strength points is harder to kill.
Also, recon units (land & air) are prone to withdrawals when attacked, they suffer less kills than other units.

Re: Unit sugestions

Also, the devs have acknowledged that some unit specs need further refinement.
I wish they would provide any formulas used for transferring real world data to game data.
That would help modders create new units or help to fix the current ones.

Re: Unable to run mod campaigns

Yep, I've been banging my head against the wall to get my own customizations to work.
There is no official editor manual yet.
I campaign editor has been promised, I guess it sits in the queue after the forthcoming campaign(s) are finished.
BTW, I only have the PC-version so my answers pertain to that.

New Britain 1943

I have added this multiplayer scenario to the scenario forum.
Download link here:

I have created a couple of challenges if anyone wants to test this.

Re: Air recon air defence values

Just checked the units.csv.
The Catalina has an air def = 5. The air sml att = 4
Check this against the values in-game.

Do you have the 'Summarised Unit Stats' checked under Options?
Maybe this combines the att and def values in-game.

Re: Unable to run mod campaigns

Update: What I've done now is create a dummy mod that exactly replicates the Battle of Britain directory structure but substituting out the contents from the BoB folders with the content from the vanilla campaign. The mod was recognised and ran although none for the objectives text for the Pearl Ha...

Re: Unable to run mod campaigns

I tried to install a mod folder with the original campaigns. Use Battle of Britain as an example. I get a black screen when running the game. To me it looks like modding the original campaigns is prohibited, probably to protect them. I copied the neccessary folders/files from the main game folder. I...

Re: Unable to run mod campaigns

If you are creating your own custom campaign, use one of the stock ones as a template. I did this when creating my own (custom New Britain campaign) and finally got it working. I mostly kept the files from the original. You may try to delete some of the original extra files (graphics etc) and test i...

Re: Air recon air defence values

Normally a recon mission would actually include just one plane. You don't need a squadron searching a specific path/area. Some cruisers and battleships include normally 1-3 float-planes. They would launch one of these for a search. That's the idea behind the low defense value of the recon unit. it i...

Unit specifications

The British Bofors 40mm Mk1 AA is listed in the units.csv with a start date 1/9/1942. It was actually available from the mid 1930s (Britain bought a number of licensed Polish guns before manufacturing their own). The twin gun was available ca 1/1/1942 and the quad version ca 1/4/1942. Edit: AP shell...

For artillery/naval range; hold the mouse cursor over the enemy unit.
You should see a thin, black range marker.

Re: Are rivers blocking supply routes ?

Cities/towns don't provide supply unless the designer adds a supply number to the hex.
Any location can be a supply source.
Usually I add 10 supply to cities and 5 supply to towns. This allow cut-off units to defend a city/town and their perimeter, presumably using a stock pile of supply.

Re: Customize Force v1.9.4e

I think it is supposed to work in the current official version. I asked earlier if this option could be available in campaigns as well, it is designed for single player and MP-scenarios currently. Then the designer could provide historical OOBs and the player exchange as many of those units as he wo...

Customize Force v1.9.4e

In the editor you can check a Customize Force' options which allow players to un-deploy units and purchase/deploy new ones. How is this supposed to work in-game? There's no customize force option in the deployment phase. You can disband units, but this only gets you about 1/3 of the original RPs of ...

Re: Midway Mutiplayer Scenario Thoughts

Competent players that are familiar with the historical battle or have played the scenario before will no doubt find a strategy that works for either side. As you have found. The battle of Midway was won due to two issues; better US intelligence and more important, plain US luck. The Japanese decisi...

Re: Are rivers blocking supply routes ?

Supply distribution is simplified. I would prefer it did not flow through mountains, jungle and maybe other difficult terrain.
This would emphasize the control of roads and railroads through these terrains.
