Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

Man, they coming at your Neck! Numbers not on our side today. What I can't show (as I usually turn off the info overlay when taking screenshots) is the XP Star levels of some of those Soviet units and just how much damage they are dishing out. More than one 5-star rocket artillery now on the map no...

The Spanish Civil War - when an armoured car was actually a car, with armour!
Verrrry-Interesting!... "But"... 'not very-funny!'.
:-) Love the image of the Bilbao "car with armour". I want one.

Re: Weekly Unit Discussion Thread

To be honest I've never given the 3.7 a fair shake. The lure of using the iconic 88 was too much, and it reflects reality in that it was far superior to any dedicated AT the Germans had until late war. The SPAT's before the Stug IIIF aren't reliable enough so I much prefer using the 88 in the AT ro...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

5th July 1944 The air war continues to rage, although we are gaining the upper hand thanks to the elimination of fighter support for the enemy's IL-2 and Tu-2 wings in previous days. https://z4gwmw.db.files.1drv.com/y4mOg08vPFZlwhMfxotQbw7YJgJwl6780nCb5wuAfK3ZnaC72wVUpHBKi-xt1-IOZI7SL5t2tLLX3DwzWG9z...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

Looks like you are really giving it to them! I felt like, in PC 1, the AI didn't attack as well as it defends. How is the balance nowadays? That is, do you usually do better when you are on the attack, or when it is? I've learned that hard way that the AI is competent at identifying weak spots or f...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

29th June 1944 In the absence of obvious FlaK cover, JG 26' operations over the enemy southern staging areas continued with our new Komets proving to be virtually untouchable by anything the reds could scramble against them. https://wyh7jg.db.files.1drv.com/y4m7hG9utojGr86LlBXIWsTF4xLVph2-RvN2KZt731...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

28th June 1944 The primary goals set out by Herr General are as follows. He has chosen to delegate far less than the usual level of operational freedom to divisional commands and is "running things himself" given the complexity of the situation. Stem the tide crashing through Army Group Centre, hold...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

Now, I feel bad for suggesting you pick up Bagration in your campaign. But it is indeed a must-see in the vanilla campaign and I'm sure you will make a great account of it. King Tigers are indeed the only thing that can go toe-to-toe against those terrifying five stars IS-2. Not at all mate, althou...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

27th June 1944 The Soviets are coming. The entire centre of the Eastern Front has been cut to shreds by a summer offensive, Barbarossa in reverse in many ways. Uncounted armies have poured forward and are now re-organising around Smolensk and Kiev, ready to sweep through White Russia and West Ukrain...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

I could never get my head round 1 range artillery and yet so many good players song it's praises! The StuG IIIB has similar or better defence compared to contemporary Panzers, so it actually makes for a very strong -- and cost effective -- support unit for infantry, or just to hold a line in genera...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

Sad to see it end, have enjoyed this AAR more than any others in recent memory. I enjoy a good story telling element! Only 3 upgrades per scenario seems brutal to me. Especially when you hit 1943! I might five that a go on a play through at some point. Thanks Horseman, if I had more time I would st...

"ADMIRAL3 "... 'Join-The-Crowd!'... I myself and many others have voiced very much the same disgust regarding the dismal 'Sound-Quality'... for the 'Units' in the Game!. The 'Immersion-Level' and relished enjoyment that we seek to capture... by trans-sending into the past... to... in essence... "Ti...

Re: Weekly Unit Discussion Thread

Doom Bar is one of the most popular in the UK. I've a couple of boxes in the cupboard though I think draught is better than bottled. Yes its a good pint. Is it the best? Who can say. Every few years I find my new favourite drink. P Draught is often nicer than bottled (or cans). I wonder if that's m...

Re: Experimenting

I think 20 is reasonable so that you could take some damage and use it for a scenario or two still. I like the idea that you could have the ability to meet an extra objective later to gain more. i.e. overrun an airfield and capture a stockpile of parts and equipment to use to repair and keep your c...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Spanish Civil War || Dev Diary #1

I have a request for developers: if you want increase immersion level of the game in wwii I think give real historical names to units could be great. When I played to PC1, OOB and PC2 I spent lot of time naming all my units, but I cant name enemy units, so my dream is to fight against real historic...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

FINDINGS FROM THE "LEARNING" CAMPAIGN I can't imagine playing with infinite upgrades now - it's great trying to succeed with the proverbial "mixed bag" of units, much the same challenge as the real commanders faced. The game would surely be a walkover? 20mm quad FlaK are being brought into my next O...

Re: Postcards from the OstFront - a General-Level AAR

OOC It is with a heavy-ish heart that I'm retiring this AAR, as I simply no longer have the time to do justice to all the great things that happen on almost every turn at this stage of the campaign. I have a load of Korsun screenshots not written up and found the time this week to play Bagration.......

The warriors in that last pic must have started getting dressed and be-medalled for that parade in about 1946 :-)

Mods - apologies, I accidentally clicked on "report" previously so please disregard that! Still haven't had enough coffee this morning.
