Seeking Help

I'm wondering if there are any Eastern Europe/Ostfront geography experts who can help review some material? PM me if interested.

The British on this map is tricky, but by no means impossible to win with. My experience has been that, against an equally skilled German player, it is best to try to get 5 VH as opposed to getting more. Defending is not too difficult. Ever since my defeat to rusikcanuk on this map, I have been refi...

Well the game already has a prestige sink, it's called elite reinforcing. I'm not sure whether you want to balance the game around making elite reinforcing the default option on Colonel. You do have two lower difficulty settings. However, the idea is not bad. When playing through on Manstein, I ofte...

Dunkirk The DV victory condition works now. This bonus mission was not as challenging as I expected, in fact, it felt easier than when I did it on Rommel. The main issue is that none of the VH are required for DV, which I feel is silly. They are nicely positioned to simulate the encirclement of the ...

Indeed, I posted an AAR on Rommel difficulty too, I did not find it too much different from FM. I think cutting prestige by 75% would make it on par with the other difficulties. Personally I think Manstein is the hardest/most interesting, although Guderian does make DV impossible for many scenarios....

Check the AAR forum, I gave some brief summaries of my time on Rommel difficulty, in which I won decisive on many maps. I consider it the easiest bonus difficulty though. My first or even second attempts on most maps on Manstein results only in marginal victories, but I did not post any AARs.

Multiplayer is the most enjoyable for me. Human opponents are endlessly inventive, and it is interesting to observe many different strategies employed. Plus it is the only real opportunity to engage in some interesting play, like encirclement tactics, tank traps, and deep penetration strikes.

Stonne French path this time, I restarted the scenario since it was not clear that the French held the initiative, and I had placed all of my artillery on the frontline. I reorganized my army, and used 4 Bf109s and 3 Stukas, since it looks like most French units will be in the open. The initial Fren...

For the DLCs, I always see SE units as being granted at specific times, which I think is better than the random system. For instance, winning Spoils of War might get you a SE unit, or maybe at the start of Warsaw High Command sees fit to give you an extra SE infantry to spearhead the assault. There'...

In my current Urban Warfare game with Neccromancer, I was about equal in casualties with the Russians, until my lines started disintegrating. But being equal is no good, since the Russian units are cheaper in general. I'm curious what you bought in terms of antitank, like the Jackson/Achilles type u...

As I said, in this game he was trying something new, he played more of the fluid style that you described in the previous games, this was more of his "frontal assault" attempt. He beat me the first time, and the second time was a draw, although technically MV to me, but there were like 4 turns of cl...

AAR Frozen North with Neccromancer

AAR Frozen North with Neccromancer My opponent is very skilled, we had played before, I am posting an AAR on a recent game we played. I had originally planned to include some comments on “advanced tactics,” hence one of my earlier annotated screenshot. But the game was engrossing, and I had little t...

Infantry is always very useful. I won Bagration on Rommel mostly by killing JS2 on hills in the middle city (Minsk). 88 AA is supremely useful. Try playing some MP games, you'll find that many previously useless units suddenly become awesome. Although sadly, there is rarely a reason to buy PzIVs, bu...

I'll only address number 6, since others can address the other points. From the twenty or so MP games I've played, most opponents play fairly quickly, a few turns a day, each turn taking five, at most ten minutes to play. Simply issue a challenge, and someone will accept it fairly quickly. So a MP g...

Ah, so are my StuGIVs going to be more useful? I just used the dual assault mode to help surround and attack a conscript in a recent game. But wouldn't it be nice if they had like, say, 12 SA, to make them actually very good against infantry?

But nice to know a patch is coming. Sounds good.

Ah, but the German infantry are far more expensive than the Soviet infantry, especially the conscripts you threw at me. So the losses don't tell the whole story. If I lost 31 to your 26, that means I suffered much more than I should've. I should've also invested in some mobile artillery, which are m...

I like your suggestion of getting a Russian gift unit. I vote for one of those Russian recon cars, which are surprisingly powerful, despite their low-ammo count. On the one hand, I think this should be DV only. On the other hand, it was absolutely brutal on Manstein just to get MV. Hmm, I have no pr...

Oslo Blucher was sunk by turn 3, despite my best attempts to rush units over to the fort to distract from their efforts to finish off the heavy cruiser. Unfortunately, the AI focused on the Blucher and killed it without issue. They then turned their guns on one of my pioneers and killed that too. No...

Strategic bombers can be very useful if employed correctly. They are the best anti-ship units in the game, but on land, their primary value is the ability to reduce the ammunition of units. I'd employ them on infantry or units with low ammo, then get two units next to it. The magic number is 3, whic...
