Interesting question, in the absence of any other notes on the subject I would point to the part that says that such a contact during pursuit is considered a charge. Accordingly it appears logical to apply the rules for charging even in those cases. It certainly keeps things simple.

A lot more in line with the other contemporary lists. As said it is not really my period so I can't comment on the historical values of it, sorry. Total of troops is 1328, which is enough and minima add up to 234 which is OKish as well, maybe increase the chariot minima to 6. Technically the list is...

Just a thought, but would it not make sense to show the ELO change next to each game as well (in the click here for details)? I considered it but thought it is sufficient to add it to the tooltip on the graphics. It is no problem to include it with the details as well, just the lines will go longer...

Fair enough. Check this page for examples of what I am talking about. Things like "Arch-nemesis" and "Never Die Wondering" were lots of fun. More fun, in many ways, than the actual rankings themselves. I see, can probably be done, question is how to define the Arch-Nemesis most ELO-Points lost in f...

Karsten - fair enough. I saw the post about active players list. Didn't realise you intended to only include games for that period too. That are two separate animals actually. The ranking list is as you put it 'livetime achievments' and will stay that way. We will just remove players that did not p...

To start with, you need Javascript enabled. Then on the Army rankings page almost on the top there is a field 'Click here for more option' if you do that a box should open where you can select from which army books you want armies shown and if you wish to see only armies with 50+ games, all armies t...

Where did the rankings go? When I click the link, all I get is "The latest results" which is Havoc :? Works fine for me. You noticed the menu bar on the top of that page? While it looks like the one on the regular FoG site, it isn't identical. To go to the rankings from the front page either click ...

My point exactly. A 3-1-0 system makes it even more a important to win, hence will increase frustration if it is not possible for some reason forced on you. You could of course lower the threshold as to what constitutes a win, but that would probably end up with so many wins that in the end placing ...

Well Alan, if you read just a few posts back into this thread (to my posting from 5th April), you will notice we are considering just that. I'm also pondering an option that allows to set a customary start- and endate for the rankings (i.e. show the rankings with only tournaments between the two dat...

Swiss are bad news indeed. I also find Arab Conquest to be rather unpalatable for my Ghaznavids. Depending on the amount of fire power the Nellie Army gets Picts could be ugly as well.

Probably not required as roads are usually used in combination with Rivers. Since Rivers go down before the compulsories there is only one side left for the road.

First of I need to mention that this isn't my period at all, so I can say little as to the historical veracity. I can do some general analysis from a a list writers perspective though. If you check Swifter and the appropriate armies from Lost Scrolls you will notice two things: 1.) HF is rare (that ...

Still it is an interesting question what are the use of foot archers generally in history? Are they seen as an effective troop type? or are they generally (leaving aside longbows, jannissaries and a few other super elite troops) just something you took because they were around? Lots of peasantish t...

I'm going with Terry, at least he chose a rather stylish army, so should get a couple bonus points on that alone. :)

Actually as someone who would like to see foot bows stronger, I don't think this is their problem. Foot bow are most vulnerable to foot. Generally if the foot get into impact it is over baring luck or small numbers. A double POA is just hard to beat. I can live with the vulnerability to foot, but t...

The actual problem is, it does not solve the problem with players that are only out not to lose. That type does not care as much about his final placement in the tourney. Instead what is important to that type is being able to claim that he wasn't defeated at all. So no matter if a Draw counts 0, 1 ...

Re: New roads to take

A feature I would like to see is to be able to tabulate the bar graphs (perhaps on a click) so that I could see all the opponents, the armies, the scores and the movements. Afraid I'm not sure what you getting at. Basically the bar-graph is only the graphical representation of the detailed results ...

Welcome to our world. Cv vs Kn, MF vs HF, LH vs Cv - it's the same problem/issue, it's just a lot easier to execute an escape successfully with LH. Play 25mm. Or play chess. No troop types or dice to blame. If you lose it's just your incompetence, no excuses (builds character), if you win it is all...
