Ok, but do they also have to take a CMT to avoid contacting fresh enemies in their path? Usually Fragmented can't charge even if they want to.

I would think that protected, drilled infantry would already enjoy a significant advantage over unprotected, undrilled infantry, so adding swordsmen capability to the former is probably "overkill." Granted, but Khmer infantry seems to have used two distinct types of shields. The smaller ones justif...

Which being the case, the armoured infantry should not get swordsmen capability. As Nik says, probably no separate ph'kak men. Ok, removing the ph'kak men is fine (I'm not sure anyone makes minis for them anyway). Removing the swordsmen from the armoured infantry might be justifiable, but afaik the...

Khmer

Seems FoG even helps in getting some of those we already considered lost back to the gaming table. Only problem is one of them currently owns only Khmer. Since it's a save bet we won't see an official Khmer list for at least another year I'm tried to put one together myself. However while I know a b...

Assuming you have more then a single element LF in the back of your BG, another of these would step forward. It doesn't have to be directly behind the element that was killed in order to fill the void. You start contracting the unit only if you have no more elements left that aren't already fighting...

Thanks for the answers so far... although I've to say, hiding important rules in the preface of a section is pretty darn sneaky. I would not have thought the Authors are THAT devious. ;) As for the third question, the IC was not involved in any combats (although that would be an interesting spin off...

Three questions from the last game

During our game last night three questions cropped up that we could not answer even after some searching in the rules. 1.) A BG of Light Horse was attacking some Light Foot, the slingers evade and get away. Now can the Light Horse move normally during the manoeuvre phase? I would assume no, but we c...

Not an Excel clone, but OpenOffice Calc works fine with the spreadsheet.

Thanks, found the passage. So the only somewhat unclear point is if the BG the commander is with gets destroyed completely. (Although I find it a little odd that a commander that fought in the front rank can simply leave after a initial route move if the BG broke. But ok, you can beat everything to ...

Commanders routing?

On page 110 it says that a commander who tries to rally a broken BG does not have to rout with them. This suggests that there are other tests that can cause the commander to rout. Yet I can't find anything about commanders and routs other then that however, maybe I missed it? The rules are clear on ...

Which part of "licensing" official lines to other venders has anything to do with Osprey or Slitherine manufaturing or selling minis? Like it or not, it is a business model that works. It's also a business modell that tends to increase prices (i.e. if we give you the supported miniatures stamp this...

I would actually rather see an "officially licensed" type program from Osprey for manufacturers to build sets for the game. This could lead to ease of access to minis and keep the GW factor low. The venders could then collaborate with Osprey on product specifics etc. Imagine if you could buy a comp...

Re: Boxed armies/units would be nice.

Many people find it hard to get into historicals because thye have no idea what the units look like or where to buy them. If a company would do starter armies or unit packs it could go a long way towards making this game a big success. Well many companies already offer 'pre-made' armies for DBA or ...

We have not yet done the Sicilian list, nor the Teutonics before 1300. The Teutonics after 1300 don't have any special dismounting option. I suspect the others won't either. I suspected as much, thanks. All armies can dismount (at the end of deployment) if the enemy has field fortifications or batt...

First off thanks for the prompt responses. The main problem aside of the freebie issue I've with dismounting depending on army lists is that the decision to allow or disallow it is often a rather subjective decision based on very limited information. (For example early French knights usually can't d...

Dismounting

I'm wondering how dismounting will be handled in FoG? From what I've read so far it seems like only certain troop types in certain armies are permitted to dismount, but those that can get this ability for free.
