Modifying the Units File

I recently had a total crash of my computer and lost everything including what to use to open the units file other than Excel. The file used aligned all the columns making it quick and easy to modify the data. Could you please tell me what
to use, I probably will have to purchase the application.

Re: Naval movement

I did the same thing in my units file only I used 7 knots as the divider- works great. I also changed the firing ranges for all main and secondary batteries based on actual naval WWII firing tables. I also looked up the actual ranges for all aircraft and adjusted their loiter times (fuel) to match t...

Re: UNIT SCALE - qusetion

I like most of kondi's scale except for the infantry and tanks: Infantry should be regiments/brigades. Divisions, especially mobile ones (motorized/mechanized) had their own Recon (Aufklarungs abteilung), anti-tank, and anti-aircraft battalions AND an Artillery regiment. With 3 infantry regiments th...

Re: Cavalry

If I've got my "Order of Battle" correct the Germans only had 1 Kavalrie Div consisting of 2 Regiments. If memory serves me right, they fought with the 3rd Armee in Poland and HeeresGruppe B in the Netherlands (before being disbanded).

Re: Seaplane Tender does not allow Heinkel He 59 to land

My understanding is that as a general rule seaplane tenders (AVs with the capability) only brought a multi-engine aircraft on board for repairs/bad weather. They invariably would rendezvous in a cove/calm waters to support them. The Japanese also had CVS's that could stow up to 24 single engine floa...

Re: Exporting Core Units

This doesn't make sense if you are suppose to be transferring your Core/Corps to a new Campaign. I can see paying the "command points" to deploy the force; but, the way you have it they were all KILLED OFF!

Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!

Would you please consider incorporating the OoB attributes like mortar fire, shock, assault, etc.? Also, if you give units spotting range shouldn't they
also have signature values as well?

Bru
I appreciate your thoughts greatly. I think you are right. Best not to mess too much with the campaign scenarios other than to eliminate some of the
OPFOR units to bring them more inline with historical situations.

Re: Editor Manual - Draft

Now, is it possible to substitute this historical scenario for the original one in the Blitzkrieg campaign? If so, how? First, please confirm: Are you speaking about the official DLC Blitzkrieg or Erik's mod campaign Blitzkrieg (1939-1940 / 1941-1942)? I am speaking about the DLC Blitzkrieg with th...

Re: Editor Manual - Draft

Bru888, et al: I tried your suggestion and it worked. I was able to recreate the Germans 3rd Armee attack with I Korps and Wodrig Korps (including the only 2 mounted Kav Rgts of the 1st Kav Div) against the garrison divisions (Polish 8th and 20th Divs, plus 2 Cav Bdes) protecting the Mlowa fortresse...

Re: Editor Manual - Draft

Could someone please tell me how to go into EXISTING scenarios and edit (name/modify/add/delete/relocate) the units. This game is a vast improvement over PC with even greater improvement if given an easy way to edit the units file and scenarios. OoB does a terrible job of representing the historical...

Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!

Please add (at least) one unit: a Headquarters/Logistical vehicle or Command Post which all units must trace a friendly path to in order to receive supply or replacements. This will convert the game from one of attrition based (circa WWI) to a modern "blitzkrieg" (circa WWII to present) game of mane...

Subs running silent and deep can not see or attack. And probably shouldn't be located except when a DD tries to enter their hex. And the evade probability
ought to be 90.

Re: Air unit speed

To update my comment, I took the fuel allocation in the equipment file and divided in by combat radius percentage for each type aircraft to determine their movement allowance. From WWII data, virtually all aircraft had a combat radius of 1/3 their operational range (fuel allowance) except single eng...

The basic assumption for combat is that it takes place in the defender's hex, which is why terrain effects are based on the defender's terrain. Given that, the attacker must already be in the defender's hex to make a meaningful assault (even though the game requires the icons to be in separate, adj...

Re: PzC 2 gameplay suggestions

All Artillery Ranges should not be set at 3 hexes- for regiment/brigade sized hexes (~2 mile/3+ km "frontages") this is accurate only for 75mm field guns and 100-105mm howitzers. However, most 150-155mm howitzers would reach 4 hexes and 200-210mm 5 hexes. Heavy guns like 155mm Long Tom 7 and German ...

Re: MASS ATTACK Formula

This whole problem of simulating massed attacks (as well as all other actions) can be easily solved by giving all units a fixed number of "action points" at the beginning of each turn. Since each unit moves/attacks separately, they will expend their points attacking/moving- up to their limit. This w...

The way it worked in PG2 was nearly perfect.
Tanks could only only overrun weakened units, spent ammo , but kept some movement (similar to a recon unit).
Yes, but this would really only work when the infantry are exposed and ABOVE ground.

Re: Ambush Behavior

Not sure I totally agree. The recon units spot further (3 vs. 2), and have superior movement and less cost than their equivalent turreted tanks.
I.e., compare the 233 to the MkIVD or the 234/2 to the MkIIIH.
