Re: Ideas for Panzer Corps 2

Please, please, please give units action points to expend moving, shooting, entrenching, etc. Each unit would have a limit (say, up to 6) for each action: move or shoot, based on their equipment, e.g., heavy tanks move 3; light tankettes move 6; heavy guns (>75mm) shoot 3; MGs shoot 6; etc. common t...

Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!

PG3 was an improvement over PG2 because of the "action point" feature which allowed units to combine realistic fire and maneuver attributes at the tactical level- only problem it was based on action points for leadership levels (2 thru 10) rather than a fixed number (like 6 maybe). PC was terrible a...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

Concerning Aircraft versus Antiaircraft Artillery (AAA): PC1 was terrible. Most air attacks can be resolved into 3 altitude regimes- Medium and High level (strategic), over 20,000 ft, string/stick bombing, against large area targets; low level (tactical), under 10,000 ft, salvo (near simultaneous) r...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

LtC sir, your comments get to the very core (pun intended) of the PzC2 issue of unit representations/definition(s). I found treating infantry and artillery as regiments and armored fighting vehicles as battalions to be the best "fit". Excluding infantry, EVERY other "unit" was represented in PzC1 by...

Re: PzC 2 gameplay suggestions

RISTA (Reconnaissance, Intelligence, surveillance, and target acquisition) is considered the 1st and most important of the 5 operational warfare roles. Historically, dedicated recon units and regular units performing recon/advanced force roles take more casualties than any other type unit. (Nobody l...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

I would like to see a more authentic representation of combat and outcomes. Technically, you can divide ground attacks into 4 categories: 1. Close Assaults (zero hex range)- the shortest range and most accurate (~1/2)/lethal attacks with the most effective weapons being submachine/machine pistol, ha...

Re: Air Operations

Thanks, I did. Works well with ground combat but not so much with naval as ships (carriers) are readily exposed.

Re: Two problems I see in OOB Blitzkrieg...

Yes, but the more accurate/authentic the game the more enjoyable; and the more games you sell! With a military career I did occasionally have to teach but enjoyed war gaming the most. Back in the late 70s I was assigned to evaluate commercial (manual/board) war games for their potential use as offic...

Air Operations

I was surprised to see that air units had such short movement and long loiter (fuel) capabilities. It was particularly disappointing when a Soviet B-10 armored recon was able to out run my Stuka after I had just bombed it. As a general rule, even "short" range fighter interceptors are able to provid...

Re: Mods and 3.4.2

Understand, but for authenticity some change is needed. If air unit strengths are to remain fixed (at 10) then larger carriers need to be able to carry more units. Using the 1 per CVE, 2 per CVL, and 3 per CV fits the Ranger, Ark Royal, Soryu and Hyryu. But not the Akagi, Kaga, Lexington and Saratog...

Air Operations

I was surprised to see the short movement and long endurance (fuel) of aircraft in the game. Especially when a B-10 Russian Recon unit out ran my Stuka after being bombed by it. In WWII virtually all tactical bombers were capable of providing "close air support" to within ~30 minutes to any ground u...

Re: Combat prognosis in ship battle

This Kriegsmarine change is an excellent improvement! Keeping the same range to the target does minimize the elevation error and high speeds maximize the (new) target position error But it still denies the naval tactic of rapidly closing to "point blank" range where estimating new target position, t...

In the Matrix OoB Forum I was told that Slitherine had a more substantial forum on naval discussions. If so, where?

Re: Combat prognosis in ship battle

Yes, In reality, combat results should IMPROVE when moving in closer and is within "direct fire" range (i.e. within Range/3). Otherwise keep the same range
to the target or get penalized. Actually, I really don't like combat results predictions anyway- they should be learned through experience.

I strongly recommend that the likelyhood of evading a DD attack diminish with each attack. To keep the same percent statistically infers each Destroyer (DD) attack is independent, i.e., the DDs are not working together (when we know they should be). The problem is: What is the starting (first) perce...

Based on the following discussion, I suggest you "bite the bullet" and go ahead and give them organic truck movement. Although unit TO&Es varied greatly as a general rule you found two types of engineers on the battlefield: Combat Engineers/Sappers - These battalions were usually organic to all type...

I too like the idea of explicitly separating direct attacks by fire (the specialty of armored fighting vehicles) from assaults (the specialty of infantry). Seems like you could give all units (stand-off) 1 hex attack SA and HA as well as (zero hex) assault SA and HA. All units would fire back with t...

I went into the equipment file and arbitrarily changed all aircraft speeds the reflect "turns" aborne. Most fighters were given Half (-1) their fuel putting them at 20+ range (jets were given 30+) but never more than half their fuel so that they could always retrun to base. Bombers were given in the...
