Re: Cancon 2013

Have the results been posted ?
I was playing next door in the DBR comp but as my games went full time I never saw as much as I would have liked of the FoG R games.

Re: Free Javelins

And then (and this bit I do agree with) that led on to an additional complaint that not only are they getting an extra capability, but they are getting it for free. I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter, it's a valid discussion to be having after all. I was just commenting on the process ...

Yes that's right, the new V2.

The quote was for 80 pages of text supplied in digital format ie PDF. The army list book was just a sample for the printer to base the quote on.

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

Two things about the WRG rules, they were concise and cheap to produce. Black & white with some diagrams. After seeing JDM's post re a paper version of V2 and as I work in the Printing & Packaging Industry I picked up an old WRG army list book ( Book 4, June 1994) and dropped it off to one of our c...

That being said, it would be nice if Slitherine would throw "the Old Guard" a bone and have a way for them to get a printed copy easily, even if it is just a printable pdf.
A good start re an 'Old Guard Bone' would be a set of printable QR sheets.

Now you are talking, please include Light Chariots in that.

Go bob, you have balls that tick. There are Medium Foot that get to throw javelins so why not Heavy Foot ? as long as both pay for the privilege.

Re: Field of Glory Ancients version 2

Another good example is Light Foot Vs Longbows. A BG of 8 Light Foot LtSp/Jav approach into Javelin range against 6 Longbow. The Javelins get 4 dice @ 0 points, the longbow 4 dice @ 12 points. Both require a 4 to hit. Over the course of a game the Light Foot player could get upwards of 50 FREE dice r...

Cost of Combat Capabilities

Cost of Combat Capabilities Are there going to be changes to Points Values in V2 ? I only ask as my Lydian Heavy Cavalry & Light Chariots pay 1pt for a Light Spear which they never get to use, where as Foot with their 'free' Light Spear get an Impact POA as a given. Mounted pay 1pt for Javelins and ...

If the Red Player had charged 'C' into 'A' in his next move would 'A' have to shift sideways to line up?

Re: Prolong Artillery

After playing a couple of the Quick Start games I would push for Infantry with Artillery attachments movement to be the same as Prolong move distance. If this was a Games Workshop rule set then fine at the same move distance as other Infantry but as this rule set is meant to have some historical bas...

Re: Hill LoS Effects

Good point, one would expect many musket balls to fly over the heads of the troops atop the crest due to the angle of fire.
Maybe a 'minus ' POA' as target counts in cover ?

Re: Prolong Artillery

I agree with Hazelbark - the 2MU move is needed for artillery to be useful on table. When using artillery offensively, standard practice for me is to move (double moves hopefully) to just outside 6MU of enemy, unlimber, then in a following turn manhandle the guns from 7MU to 5MU - where they become...

Re: Quick start questions

The Austrian Divisional Commander is allocated 1 CMT per move in the Austrian Forces List page 9
Page 4, bottom line of the Movement table, states "only 1 test may be taken per phase by the Austrians"

Which is correct ?
Thanks

Free Javelins

Troops who throw javelins should pay for the ability.
Having a 'freebie' for game balance in the Americas is making a mockery of other lists.
