Re: Beta2 feedback

After 5 minutes : I find the graphics style very suited. Having played Rites of War, Final Liberation, Panzer Corps, I skip the tutorial and immediately jump to the campaign. 15 minutes : The gameplay seems to be in between Panzer Corps and John Tiller's Campaign series, which I like. The scale is e...

[Bug?]newly purchased units start with 0 HP

I purchased a few units at the beginning of the second mission of the campaign ( I chose the scouting mission, and then the + requisition dialogue option), but the new ones started with 0 HP. They can get to 1 through resting. On the other hand, the units with a greater soldier count than their upgr...

Re: Beta2 feedback

- During play, 'Rest & Refit' (or 'Supply') buttons do nothing (but the unit loses its move/action however!) >> That is not always true : if the unit is damaged, it will recover 1 hitpoint (only works for units with several hitpoints like some Tanks and Titans of course). If the unit is broken(red),...

[Balance]Automatic retaliation and titans/top tiers units

I think the unlimited retaliation is a bit too much. It made sense in operational and above games (where attacks were more abstract and involved assaulting a hex), but with the weapon ranges, and different power levels of the units, it creates some very weird, and IMO, unwanted behaviours (from the ...

Re: Scale of the game

As much as I would like a better Steel Panthers 40K (I never understood why SSI dumbed down Steel Panthers to make Final Liberation), I think Final Liberation scope was smaller : Even though the campaign took place over a whole planet (and featured orks vs humans), the forces involved were a bit sma...

Re: Scale of the game

You are right about the power level of the Space Marines varying wildly from one publication to the next, but on the other hand that never prevented any 40K game to have an explicit scale, whether it was a miniature or a computer game. We are used to Space Marines being much better in the books than...

Scale of the game

What will be the scale of the game? What will one unit represent? One detachment (to make titans and super heavy tanks unique units)? One company (but that would make very few units of Space Marines according to the fluff)? What about one hexagon? I disliked the fact that there was no indication of ...

Re: No way to speed up animations?

Indeed, unchecking "effets" (in French) did speed some of them.
Some still remain but it is much more bearable. I thought it was for the sound effects when I saw the option :o

No way to speed up animations?

The game is enjoyable so far (although I wish there was a multiplayer mode), but the slow animations are a strong deterrent at the moment: There are so many actions that trigger an animation, and the animations are so slow overall, that the downtime ends up being quite high, which is a shame for an ...

Re: Eventual Scope of 40k IP

The rules don't have to be a direct port, though : Final Liberation rules were closer from the Steel Panthers ruleset than the Epic 40K ruleset, but SSI made an awesome job of translating Epic rules into their own computer rules, and most units behaved exactly as someone playin the miniature games w...

Re: Eventual Scope of 40k IP

I meant a spiritual successor more than a remake. By character, I meant that the direct 1:1 scale used allowed units to perform more or less as they do in lore (Epic 40K for Final Liberation, and Warhammer 40K for Chaos Gate, even through the rulesets were different), helping build a stronger narrat...

Re: Eventual Scope of 40k IP

Do you consider doing a remake of Final Liberation or Chaos Gate? These were my all time favorite 40K games. Chaos Gate only lacked some kind of free form campaign (like in XCOM or Jagged Alliance), more varied opponents to be perfect, and Final Liberation needed a better combat model (closer from S...

Re: Armageddon invasion starts in 2014

Destructible buildings and wrecks would make little on a game using the Panzer Corps engine :
It is built to represent large scale engagements, not battalion scale warfare.
For Epic 40K style battles, I think the Battle Academy engine would work better.

Will the game use the Panzer Corps Engine?

It is hinted by the scale of the game in the announcements, and the other messages but I am not too sure about it. Will the game be based on Panzer Corps? If so, what will be the major changes compared to Rites of War? I would really hope for a more "visceral" scale (Chaos Gate or Final Liberation)....
