Re: Can't turn wont turn

Otherwise if both bases contacted hadn't been fighting enemy then both would have had to turn 90 degrees which isn't right. Why isn't it right? It is exactly as per the rule you quoted. Would you response change if it were cav in a single line instead of knights since cav can fight in 2 ranks? No. ...

Re: What is this orb thingy again?

Mice stopped the Assyrian invasion of Egypt by eating all the bow strings, according to Herodotos. So they are more dangerous to armies than you think.
A good reason for having cats in your army.

Re: how important are base depths?

So long as both sides are based the same it matters very little. For instance, my 20mm ECW armies are based on 40mm squares (4 figures in two ranks for infantry, 2 figures for cavalry). This is completely the wrong shape, but it work absolutely fine for FOG:R, because both sides are the same. It loo...

Not only that, iOS7 seems to have knackered the e-rules on the one platform they did work on.
Why not just sell a PDF and keep everyone happy?

Re: Artillery bases

28mm guns only just fit on 60x80mm bases - they are way too deep for 60mm square.

You have to decide HF/MF when you design your army list.

Re: 25mm FoGR game table

We play 25mm on 6x4 tables, usually at 650 points or less. Games take about 2 hours. We use 1MU=30mm, which seems a good compromise for several reasons. A bit more than 1", but 40mm seems too big on the smaller table. 30mm is half a base width, so the restricted zone becomes one base width, which is...

Re: Impassibility of captured artillery to mounted

Could this be dealt with satisfactorily by an additional bullet in the Interpenetrations section: - Any troops can pass through uncontrolled artillery perpendicularly from back to front or front to back only. ? Note that the restriction on direction is to prevent long distance teleportation (as it ...

Re: Winners Atrittion

We still use FoG:AM (v2) and like it very much, but we play in 28mm on a 6x4 table, so tend to keep armies down to 650 points-ish, although we don't usually play straight up equal points games, more often scenarios or refights, so points are just a guide to relative army strengths. We find the rules...

Re: Getting at Lone Commanders

I think to move so the commander is in range but behind would probably require an expansion. Of course, the logical extension of playing this as written is that if the commander is within 6 MU of the Bow at the start of the move he's perfectly safe as the move would not take the Bow within shooting...

Re: Couple of Painting Tips Needed

To clarify:
Paint tunic solid white (actually, off-white usually looks better than pure white)
Let it dry
Wash with slightly diluted Payne's Grey ink
Let it dry
Highlight with the original white

Re: Fitting 28mm figures on the base

All my Romans and Gauls are 3 to a 60x20 base - couldn't fit 4 figures as the poses are too 'active'. You can generally fit 4 spear or pikemen if they are all in the same pose (all my Macedonians and Greek heavies are 4 to a base) There's no ambiguity, since the base size tells you they are HF. I im...

Re: Couple of Painting Tips Needed

For whites, I find Payne's Grey ink (made by Daler-Rowney) is excellent. After washing you end up with a pale grey with dark grey creases.
Highlight with white, and it looks great.

Re: Winners Atrittion

The most obvious way to speed up the game is to play with fewer points. 650 point games in 25mm on 6x4 tables are nice and decisive. Another way to speed up FoG would be to restrict unit sizes (maybe just have small and large units with 4 or 8 bases), and mandate that units always line up exactly. R...

Re: Intercepts and evaders

Look at the sequence of play.
Evades happen before intercepts. So, no, you can't evade an intercept, as that phase has already happened.
