Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

This is my biggest worry, and YET again I'd like to point out my concern about the lgs which is where most Americans play at least some games. They do have a say in what they offer and promote to customers....

Re: 2013 US Team Tournament

The history of these events is we do NOT adopt new rules at the last minute. So unless (unlikley) this is released immediately and receives widespread support and adoption, I would imagine that the January 2013 event uses the current rules. As Beither noted there will be consideration and significa...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

Thanks for the reality check JD. It makes sense considering how other companies in our industry have operated. Sam Mustafa made one print run and went to PDF when it sold....and was very frank about another print run not being possible. Lost Battles went as a board game and have the rules available ...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

There is one wargames mag...Battle games I believe that have been using a similar approach. Last I heard they are moving away from a specialized app and going to .pdf due to customer requests. This is a big mistake not to include something compatible with Samsung/ google tablets.....And a smart phon...

Re: Any news of V2

So...with the announcement I wonder.. Break with osprey? Unhappy lgs? It's where I play my games.....and what they can sell matters....one local store is pushing NAW as figs are sold with the rules......not even sure if he is stocking fogn although I made a point to order my copy there....very few s...

Re: Looking for an army

Hmmm, in which case we should ignore any Mongol samauri interactions as there aren't any field battles to infer from. So we are looking at Sam on Sam fights. Any way to model this and somehow make this army worth more than a pile of horse poo?

Re: Looking for an army

Their archery was not seen as effective versus the Mongols....not sure why bow* couldn't be heavy foot. They should be outshot by the Mongols, realizing any invasion force would be mostly infantry, if any mounted at all. I'm not sure what the solution here is. I can understand the desire to get the ...

Re: Looking for an army

Can someone explain again why these guys are medium foot? What is the evidence battle wise where they were vulnerable to mounted, which I guess would be the only reason... Certainly.... 1). They shouldn't have a movement advantage...they are heavily armored guys not light footed mediums in any way o...

Re: Seleucid cavalry

I recently saw a Seleucid army that was 75 percent mounted...Parthian ally plus lots of other cav. Again this is from the later Seleucid list in ror, that would cover magnesia and later. I believe it's rather overly generous on the quality of the Seleucid army.....

Re: Charging into a flank that's not a flank.

No, but it counts as a frontal charge. Other wise you might notbe able to charge a bg you were next to if not in the flank and at an angle where you couldnt hit this front. Another reason not to take supporting light foot in these rules.

Re: Let's Talk Mongols...

A Mongol list with a bg of lancers or knights is nice. Ilkhanid can get both Kurdish lancers and hospitallers, making them one of the most powerful Mongol options IMO. The drilled hospitallers can get to the week point in the enemy line and smash through....all the while your opponent is worried abo...

Re: Pseudo Newb with a plan for an army.....

It really depends on who you are playing. However letting your cav and peltasts be speed bumped and then your baggage be taken means you are at 8/9 from breaking.....a good mounted player will than find it trivial to close the door on one hoplite bg, and much faster than your hoplites breakthrough a...

Re: Pseudo Newb with a plan for an army.....

I think the two 6's of cav are a mistake. Would minimize this to one 4 pak and consider them as a skirmisher. Protected hoplites are not so common, and I like the armoured earlier version better.

Re: Ebook version for FoG V2?

Not something my lgs would be happy about. I've always made a point of buying local instead of amazon...in the us they are usually where the games are played. Of course doesn't mean I won't buy an extra ecopy anyway. Force on Force is already available via osprey in this format.
