Re: The New Field of Glory

Downloaded and gave it a go; it's the old FOG I remember and enjoy.

You are all cordially invited to my new FOG thread, which includes a discussion of some possible bugs:

Discussion of release candidate (FOG Returns!)

I downloaded the release candidate, and I'm impressed but cautious. The game runs well, the pace is just as fast and fun as it used to be, and there are plenty of scenarios and army lists to choose from. I could see FOG making a comeback when this is released, honestly, as I'm already eager to play ...

Re: Issues with the Zoom

Went looking to see if there were any new scenarios, and wound up finding my answer! http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=319&t=53256 I think 100 is a little too much on the zoomin level, and I didn't up the zoomout level, but otherwise this fixes everything. I'd close/delete the thread if I ...

Issues with the Zoom

I'm having a lot of fun with Pike and Shot, but the thing that bothers me most is the zoom function. I simply cannot get close enough to the action. I don't mind if the graphics break down or look blocky, I simply cannot stand to have the camera so high in the air. The top down view seems to zoom a ...

Re: Qvadriga Final Release Questions

Just played the demo and immediately picked up the full version; it's a great little game.

Here is my question:

Is there an Android/Ipad version in the works? I think this would be a great title for my Nexus tablet.

Re: Best Roman game ever

Rome Total War isn't a very good Roman game, at least not without significant modding. I base that statement on the ahistorical nature of the game; just look at Egypt, for example. RTW consists of an ahistorical and very abstract/unrealistic strategy layer, placed over an exciting, accessible and vi...

Re: One of the best Ancients games ever

I picked up Birth of Rome, the Cantabrian Wars scenario, and the new patch. I'm really impressed by the changes in the new patch. I'll just touch on three points that stand out to me the most: First, the buildings on the map now have a little number next to them indicating the level of fort (at leas...

Re: One of the best Ancients games ever

Apparently a patch is on the way, which will be good because I've reported a couple of bugs myself and I get the odd crash. Still having a lot of fun with the title, just tried to play as Otho and wound up ruining my northernmost armies by trying to have them cross the Alps during winter. Also...

One of the best Ancients games ever

I noticed this forum is a tad empty, so I thought I better post a recommendation for people who aren't sure about the game. Alea Jacta Est is a great game in a long line of great games from Ageod. There's an active forum on the Ageod webpage, and there's a lot of Ageod AARs on the paradox forums: ht...

Re: The New Field of Glory

Will the new version feature a campaign mode, where users can string together scenarios? The lack of a campaign mode is the main reason I stopped playing the current FoG, so I really hope the new version addresses this. If a campaign mode is included, I know that I will make a few user-made scenario...

here is a post I made in the stickied "Road Map" thread that got some positive responses: Forget new armies, what FOG needs is a campaign mode where the player's army persists over the course of several battles. Right now, the game has no worthwhile single-player at all. The game furthermore cannot ...

Did you ever find a way of turning the tool-tips off altogether? I think I'd rather have no tooltips than an empty little box constantly following my cursor.

I am having the exact same problem; most of the tooltips are blank. I've updated the graphics drivers, but nothing changed. I'm also on Windows 7 (64x) I can't find the manual in the game directory, either, so I'm lost at this point. I kind of figured things out, but I don't know how exactly what al...

Thanks; once they create the campaign framework, they could even release additional, well-made campaigns as DLC. Perhaps each DLC campaign could feature one or two new units, as well. Also, if attention is needed badly enough, I would suggest releasing a free, limited version where you can play onli...

Just keep in mind that Penal Legions are the secret to a strong Republican Rome army. They should always constitute the bulk of your force. Just curious as to why you consider Penal so important? I like seeing my opponent's line crumble, and if more people rely on penal legions this will occur more...
