Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

A house rule I've been playing with in my latest grand campaign is deployment costs. I didn't like how cheap units aren't worth their core slot as the campaign progresses, so I came up with this to help keep infantry the mainstay of my forces. 1. Unlimited core slots 2. To deploy a unit in a scenar...

Re: PANZER CORPS II UNITS WISHLIST

I'd love a complete overhaul of the US Air Force... Currently it feels like you get P-47D and your suite of basic B-26s and B-17s way too early, and there's nothing at all to look forward to. There's no reason really to use P-40s or P-38s, despite their widespread use in Torch and through 1943. P-47...

Re: Games with best AI

1) Decisive Campaign Series - I second Panzerpimp's opinion here, the best AI by far. 2) Paradox Europa Universalis series and some of the related games. Can't speak for HOI, but EU does a competent job creating an immersive feel on military, diplomacy and trade fronts. I wish Civ series would learn...

Special rewards

Been thinkin' a bit about the "captured equipment" feature, which is the main way PC doles out bonuses for extra-good performance. I've always been of 2 minds about these. On the one hand, they're a fun bit of chrome. On the other... well, either the captured equipment is worse than what you have, i...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

I like the idea about a different way of handling suppression. In Unity of Command, units generally only recover 1-3 suppression hits per turn (and not at all if out of supply). This opens up the possibility of wearing down a unit over successive turns, and/or launching "spoiling" attacks etc. Would...

Super-fog of war mode: the strength, ammo, fuel and suppression status of enemy units is hidden.

Re: My general views on 3D - Clearing up some missunderstand

Sourdust I'm glad that you liked art style of Battle of the Bulge. Incidentally, the artist behind that art design is also art director of Panzer Corps 2. ;) Period stylization is a tricky thing. It can be nice, but it also seems to interfere with ergonomics far too often. This is especially true w...

Re: Uncle HS’s suggestions for Panzer Corps II

... I also think in tank vs tank combat they need to replace artillery. Right now in tank vs tank combat it works like this: bring in artillery, supress the enemy tank, then attack it with your own tanks. And on the defensive, put close support artillery behind your tanks so if enemy tanks afttack ...

Re: Minor factions

Given PC is a "beer and pretzels" kind of game rather than a hard-core simulation, I'm pretty comfortable with the game pulling at history a bit this way and that, in the interest of making interesting and enjoyable (and replayable!) campaigns. I love the idea of a Polish campaign. Start off defendi...

Re: My general views on 3D - Clearing up some missunderstand

Yes, it's the integrated art style that is often (or in my experience always) missing in true 3D games. Civilization, Paradox engine, etc... also what I've seen of Unity of Command 3D so far, etc. all fail to have (a) an integrated art style that encompasses all graphic elements; and (b) an art styl...

Modding and scenario/campaign creation

So obviously the modding community for PC has been a big part of its longevity and popularity. Personally, I have no interest nor aptitude in "modding" a game, but I have a lot of interest in creating new campaigns and scenarios. I would urge the devs to think about two distinct groups of users - th...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

Well, we're agreed on no supply lines and no unit facings! I'm not sure adding "postures" would be overcomplicating. There wouldn't be any change to the core combat mechanics, just a set of additional modifiers. The idea is to add a bit of depth without adding complexity. The existing switches are a...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

Two more thoughts: - Allow the player to set a "posture", either for individual units, or for the force as a whole. Different postures can modify stats and/or combat results - and each posture would have advantages and disadvantages. For instance, a "delay" posture could halve combat losses for both...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep

OK, I'm not going to talk about graphics or engine here because I've had my say elsewhere... this is an entirely constructive post, focusing on a few high-level design choices. 1) Campaign balance. One of theings that sort of annoys me about PC is that a campaign can quickly snowball against you if ...

KelderKatarn, I agree with every word you've written. Thanks for that. I hope devs listen to your well-reasoned post... alas it looks like the engine, 3D choice etc are all locked in. I can't speak for other gamers and I am not an expert on the market and all it's various gaming niches. All I can sa...

I wish your announcement of this game had said "PC2: now with the most devious and dynamic AI ever created in a wargame -- matched with an unparalleled number of diverse scenarios crafted by the best designers in the business, with a branching campaign 3 times the size of the original." Who knows? ...

Re: I am quite pesimistic about this game...

I don't want the developers "spending a lot of time making sure we don't introduce any problems" as a result of 3D. That's a lot of time wasted that would be better spent improving AI, making more scenarios, etc. 3D is the death of a good 2D game. Sorry, I know you'll try your best, but 3D is a mass...

Hello Szarpas, The issue is already fixed and it will be implemented in the next update. As for the AI, I know it is limited, but we can't make it too hard for the new and experienced players. If the AI is not a challenge for you anymore, we highly suggest you play the Multiplayer. Cheers, Alex Ale...
