This was discussed at beta test, with a strong majority against. (Which included a certain Mr Kragdob :D .)

Re: Iraqi revolt

That helps. Thanks. The manual was therefore as useful as ever  . As I got a strength 1 and a strength 9 partisan it must be a fairly wide distribution.

Iraqi revolt

I have been trying to understand how the Iraqi revolt works. If someone could explain it I would be grateful. The manual states One Axis garrison would spawn in or adjacent to every resource and city in Iraq. Which clearly isn't the case. It also states So if the Allies hold all cities then the spaw...

As a 3.0 beta tester can I disagree. I would say that the totality of the changes from 2.1 have arguably been neutral, but in my opinion have moved things very slightly in favour of the Allies.

Re: Vokt (axis) vs JimR (allies) 3.0 AAR

~600 PPs sunk so far. That's the equivalent of 6 FTRs and it's only mid-1942. Not bad, not bad at all :D. Yes, but the 6 German subs cost 330 PP, plus upgrades; say a total of 420 PP so far. Given the built in Allied superiority in PP I don't think that this is a good exchange rate. It will of cour...

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

Has anyone thought about replayability here? it seems that each new version reduces the opportunities for ahistorical alternatives. In 3.0 the Axis can no longer invade Turkey (see note), and Axis subs can no loger sail from Suez to the Atlantic (or vice versa). Probably accidental that both of the...

Back to the travails of Army Group Persia. I may have paused, but Kragdob hadn’t. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i445/SimonPPPP/CEaW%201/1Untitled11.png My units dug into mountains were, for now, safe; but the others were bombed to ruins and then over run. He had enough air units to use in rela...

I quite agree with Siln and Kragdob. Probably like most players I completely ignore experience - my own and my opponents. Something which no real life general would have done. Kragdob's suggestion sounds very sensible.

Re: GS 3.0 Gogs Axis versus Hüs Allies

5 steps! The next day in a different game I ran an Allied DD into a German sub in 1939 and got a 2:2! Which doesn't excuse my predictability. I can see my play in this game becoming a long list of things to avoid doing.

Re: GS 3.0 Gogs Axis versus Hüs Allies

Being Dyled took me by surprise, even though I had prepared about as well as possible for it. Certainly some French units ended up a bit exposed. After two air and two ground attacks the French MECH was a sitting duck for my ARM. But I shouldn't have got carried away and followed up. I was too keen ...

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

We discussed changing that hex in the beta test, although not in the context of Dyle, and decided against it. I think that your proposed changes to the Allied start locations addresses the problem quite well.

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

I've done it. See my comments earlier in this thread. I probably didn't play optimally and lost an ARM in turn 2  . Paris fell by end of April, but the Axis casualties were very nasty. It is possible that my opponent may AAR it.

I put a FTR forward to have a peek over the other side of the hill. Oh dear: http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i445/SimonPPPP/CEaW%201/1Untitled83-1.png All was quite for a couple of turns, and then in August the Allied offensive rolled out of the Caucasus like the Wrath of God: http://i1094.photo...

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

When I got Dyled in 3.0 I had an ARM and a MECH already railed west, as well as the two INF already there. So I was able to DOW Holland and drive into Belgium. This avoided a catastrophe. But the Dutch being at full strength means that as of May 1940 I still haven't captured Arnhem. Also, my push to...

Re: Question about Suez canal ownership in GS 3.0

According to Wiki 62 U-boats ran the straights. 43 made it. (10 sunk, 9 damaged and returned to base.)

More importantly, that isn't the issue BuddyGrant raised.

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

Morris, I am struggling a little to follow your screen shots. I assume that you Dyled in turn 1? And ended in the positions shown in your SS of the start of turn 2? And that for some reason the Axis didn't react? I note that at the start of turn 2 both Liege and Antwerp are empty :? .
