Re: Question about Suez canal ownership in GS 3.0

A picky point  , but Tanganyika had been a British protectorate since 1918.

However, a number of Free French and Spanish territories may have been more welcoming. (By "may" I mean 'historically were'.)

Re: Question about Suez canal ownership in GS 3.0

as designed I believe Correct. Regardless of who controls the Suez Canal, either side can send ships between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf and only the Allies can send ships either way between the Atlantic and the Red Sea. (If the Axis press on into Iraq they would do well to leave a garrison in...

As the Axis I have already been Dyled in 3.0. I thought that it worked well for the Allies  .

This is how the next turn, 61, ended for the Axis:

Re: convoy suicide

Wouldn't work - there is the random element at the start of each convoy move.

BG - I think that only happens when you try to move in on the same turn that you have captured Leningrad. Of course, I have been known to be wrong.

Re: Kragdob educates Gog on 2.2.

Partisan problems. My game with Kragdob rumbles on. We have reached June 1943 and I am taking a beating. This time the delays have mostly been my fault. As 3.0 is now out I thought that I would high light one of the new features. The French resistance seemed to think that it could liberate the sout...

I'm afraid it hasn't. I have just been on the receiving end of a convoy stopping in Brest and then self destructing. :( (Most disconcerting to see the ship destroyed in captured port message and wonder how on earth my opponent had managed that.)

Only if you save it in a separate folder before you download the patch. I have games of 2.1, 2.2 and 3.0 currently ongoing.

Re: Invasion of America?

I tried the same strategy as against you in the AAR. But this time the Allied player got sucked in. I was adjacent to Omsk by the end of summer 1944. Anticipating this, I had switched the Luftwaffe west, crushed a feeble Overlord with the help of the strong Kriegsmarine and Regia Marina, swept the s...

3.0 is out and it is great. (Apart from the bits I don't agree with  .) It represents an enormous amount of work by Borger and Paul, so I think that each and every one of us should buy them a beer. This does raise certain practical problems, but here is my start on the contributions. Of course...

Finished a game over the weekend where I attempted a 1945 invasion of Canada after a successful 1944 Sealion. No surprises - ie I got thrashed.

Not for :( . I even reloaded from my disk - which needed the serial number. But when trying to install 3.00 I got "invalid serial number". Strange.

Re: GS v3.00 news

Hehe, I am a product development engineer (different industry) and whenever we use the excuse that a schedule is delayed because one key person is on holiday and he is the only one capable of some key function, that is surely 100% a stalling tactic and there is some other problem that is not being ...

I'm afraid he's the stubborn one. We'll see ... and in full disclosure, we're up to turn 31 (4/23/41) now and I don't want to give away what he's, or what I've, done until he (I, we?) post my (our?) turn. :D  You realise that you can get therapy for that sort of thing  . Fascinating AAR.

No, not a bug. Hotseat the 1940 scenario and find out what happens when it is declined (by the Axis). Or look at one of the many AARs where this has happened. (Including mine against Kragdob.)
