AI issues

1) The AI doesn't load units onto transports to get them across water - ever. Load up the Norway scenario and play as allies, the AI will spend the PP it earns from conquering southern Norway on buying units in Denmark which it does not then load on to transports to use in Norway, meaning that the A...

Re: Really Liking the Gustav Rail Gun

Slith designed the gun as an epic weapon for special missions, but for inclusion in the core, whilst range 6 seems pretty accurate, 80 soft attack may be a little OP for a unit comprising a single gun that fired only 14 (admittedly massive) shells a day. Air defence of 20 is just totally ridiculous ...

Re: PCAK: Gazala - Prestige question!

Spotted the potential for a flanking manoevre (backed up by paras) in the east and pulled it off - two bridging units really speeds it up just as you say, though I'm still in two minds whether a core bridging unit is worth it I've had one since Palestine. My real problem was avoiding losing grenadie...

Re: Some thoughts on replacements

I always use elite replacements with core units, always over-strength between scenarios if I can afford it, and will normally use eleite replacements as a way of resupplying if I can afford it. I never use elite replacements with non-core units except by accident. The way I figure, my units will bec...

Re: PCAK: Gazala - Prestige question!

I'm assuming that you mean 500 prestige points after fixing your units and are playing on Colonel level. If so, go ahead, but look out for mine fields - only make a few breaks in them, avoid direct assaults on fortifications and make liberal use of artillery to soften up positions before attacking t...

Re: Is it me ?

Yeah, even without AT rifles, cavalry fighting dismounted in rough terrain could be lethal to 1930's tanks - they would just wait until the tanks got close enough and blast them with grenades or Molotov cocktails. Read your histories of the Spanish Civil War and the Winter Wars and you'll see lots o...

Any update on this? Hopefully this mod is storming towards its objectives, and isn't cut off and surrounded in the ruins of Stalingrad . . .

Re: Unit Icon Creation Tutorial

Sorry, I work in this area and I can tell you - no it doesn't. Fair use is a defence for things like use in criticism and comment etc. Not for copying pictures without permission for use in a game. Happily there's a lot of stuff available that's in the public domain or otherwise made available for v...

Re: Put your unit requests here please

Don't know if anyone's still looking at this page, but -

1) A team of horses as transport for a gun.

2) The British QF 18 Pounder Field Gun.

I'm working on a WW1 mod, other thing's I can probably get elsewhere, but not the above.

Re: Doug (axis) vs Victor (allies)

Pity this battle wasn't finished - appears epic, although I don't know why Doug didn't go for all-out victory in the USSR. Falling back into Axis territory to defend is almost certain to end in defeat - right?

Maybe, but I'd like to see someone try and fight it out at least once.

Re: New Open Beta Commander: The Great War v1.20 now availab

Of course, this is an Open Beta and more changes are planned before we release an official version... like French language support, map-editor and whatever feedback, suggestions, bugs, problems, wishes we collect. This is the reason why we use Open Beta`s in the first place. We do what we can and a...

Re: Why the community fork?

I'm sure they do, since people always prefer to continue doing as they have in the past, but in what way does in make sense to divide things up like this? Theoretically, since all three forums have pretty much identical features, you could just have the same forum accessed from three different porta...

Re: What game would you like to see next?

I think a British DLC would be good. Start in 1940 Norway, through the fall of France, an optional what if Operation Sea Lion, 41, 42 would be Africa, then Italy and then of course D Day and the journey to Berlin. My understanding is that multi-national core forces are now possible in PzC - a Briti...

Why the community fork?

By my count there's at least three different official forums for this game (Matrix, Slitherine, Lordz) - why split up the community like this? It means that news about mods/patches/etc. has to be posted over three different forums to ensure everyone knows about them. I get that there are three compa...

Re: IJA Campaign 1938-45, v1.0 plus install help available

I'm sure they would. But given there was no Pacific content whatsoever when I started campaign modding (back with USMC) I decided to limit workload to a reasonable amount to get mods done rather than getting bogged down due to over-extending myself :) Yeah, most modders set themselves an overly-amb...

Re: Balance Issues

Yeah, the AI genuinely seems to have problems as the CP winning the game. There's pretty much no scenario where it's not possible to hang on to Verdun, chase them out of Belgium, and capture Strasburg. With the PP they lose from this, and the entry of Italy into the war, they're beaten within a year...

No China battles? I would have thought Shanghai, the Yangtse valley, Wuhan, Changsha etc. would all make good subjects for an IJA mod.
