Re: Is this game still worth getting?

Pretty epic AARs :) I think I'll give it a shot.

Upgrades for ground-combat

Actually this is one of the areas where the game works best at the moment (diplomacy and naval warfare are in greater need of attention, but we've talked about them a lot already), but this isn't to say that there's nothing to be done: 1) Defensive bombardments. The game already features a neat coun...

Re: Two questions

not really a challenge, wrong me? Yes, we wrong you, the new AI is very capable and will punish you when you make a mistake. It's defintely true to say that the game will punish you for making mistakes (e.g., leaving your supply line uncovered, not escorting transports, not establishing sufficent a...

Re: I'm up for playing as CP, anyone up for Entente?

I'm thinking bombing of cities is cool only if they're on the front line or right behind it.

Otherwise OK - already on the server.

Re: one country

Theoretically the game can be modded so that you fight one Entente country's part in the war (e.g., Serbia, Italy, Russia) simply by removing all other Entente countries from the war and reducing the CP's resources in proportion to the amount of Entente troops left.

I look forward to an expansion addressing these issues, much as GS addressed many issues with CEAW.

I'm up for playing as CP, anyone up for Entente?

Anyone up for 1 or 2 turns a day (maybe 3-4 on some days with a day or two off)? Preferred house rules: 1) No BB disbandment. 2) No massive strat-bombing. 3) I'm up for declaring war on Spain/US/Greece if it looks like things are going too easy for the CP (say, capture most/all of at least two of Fr...

Re: Two questions

How good is AI here? Will it be allowed to create expansions for this game with e.g. Napoleonic Wars or WW2 as possible subjects or there will be future releases with those mentioned subjects using this same game engine? No AI is as good as a human player, the CTGW AI is no exception to this. That ...

Is this game still worth getting?

Have enjoyed Commander: The Great War, and since this game is going at a pretty low price, I'm wondering if it's still worth a spin. How does it compare to CTGW. Also thinking about getting PzC, although they say they may be releasing PzC + all DLC as a package so I may wait for tha. Anyway, my main...

Re: More on navies . . .

Assembling infantry unit in a week is also totally unrealistic, but will game become better, if building infantry will take 3-4 month? I think producing infantry in a week would be realistic if the unit started out with 0 or 1 efficiency. That way as in real life the unit can be committed at lower ...

Re: More on navies . . .

i feel the biggest issue with naval warfare is the cost to build units. you spend so much just upkeeping the frontlines and there is hardly anything left to give for naval upgrades or new ships, and even if you did, naval warfare is almost pointless. you need three submarines just to sink 1 Entente...

Re: some improvement for a more realistic game

Surrender needs to be made much more possible - you can trash Germany completely but they won't surrender, same for Austria-Hungary and Turkey, but historically they quit without being conquered. Yes. I don't see that it is necessary for the war to continue into 1918 each time - that is just boring...

Re: Panzer General Fanboi Wants Advice On Whether To Buy PC

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys, one more question - if Afrika Korps is a stand-alone game, does that mean it includes everything Panzer Corps vanilla does? Or should I get both Afrika Korps and PzC?

Re: some improvement for a more realistic game

after playing more than 12 game against human player I think it will be fine to have than optional realistic rules. at least some point 1st - train have nothing to do in a ww1 game, but that really minor as there are not efficiency. 2nd - do not allow landing again port or capital 3rd - perhaps the...

Re: What game would you like to see next?

Since the Western allies seem to have won (and I agree with that), please lets have some battles we haven't seen before, and lets make this a genuine Western Allies campaign and not just a US campaign (which is pretty much what usually happens when WWII is dealt with in computer games). It's not lik...

Panzer General Fanboi Wants Advice On Whether To Buy PC

OK, played the demo and it looks a lot like PG (which I played obsessively when it came out nearly 20 years ago), so I have to ask: 1) Is it TOO much like PG? 2) Are the scenarios too often a case of "attack, attack, attack" without having to respond to enemy moves like PG - are there also challengi...

Re: 45west and 45east?

Yeah - this game is essentially the spiritual successor of Panzer General, which was an awesome game, I look forward to a Pacific campaign. Pacific General was a disappointment for me since the AI didn't seem to know how to use artillery (it only very rarely moved it, so you would find the attacks b...

Re: Consultation: Patching the naval game

Just to be clear, the proposed mechanic will ensure that no German convoys spawn unless the German naval strength in the North Sea is 1.5x the Entente naval strength, so you won't have the chore of chasing doomed merchant convoys - convoys will only spawn when the German fleet has a serious chance ...

Re: Consultation: Patching the naval game

and Germany does not need the PP boost that would come from convoys if it has already beaten the Entente on the high seas You're right, this is a balance issue we may need to address. Having said that, there is a benefit in representing convoys consistently throughout the game. It would seem odd th...

Re: Consultation: Patching the naval game

Also, remember that if the CP does just build up a huge fleet which never leaves port, the Entente player will easily intercept all the convoys, so the blockade will still effectively be in place. The problem is that continually intercepting convoys which stupidly set out for Germany for 118 turns ...
