Re: Custom Unit sound/graphics

No problem, I take your point about tanks and troops matching, though I'd still like to see something that looks menacing enough. It's noteworthy that the artwork from the books (e.g., Drive To The East) shows grey-ish tanks and aircraft. Actually right now the thing I would really love to see is: -...

Re: Custom Unit sound/graphics

Hi Sloughie - Whoa there! First things first: the CSA flag in the Southern Victory books was a cool reversed-colours version of the old CSA army flag. I'd been thinking of using grey rather than Butternut (not least because I don't really know what colour Butternut is or if it is as cool-looking as ...

Re: Custom Unit sound/graphics

Thanks a lot McGuba! The idea is for a mod based on the Southern Victory books ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Victory ), where the Confederate States won the American Civil War, but then lost WW1 (in which the USA allied with Germany) and had to cede large parts of its territory to the USA...

Re: Put your unit requests here please

A big ask, I know, but if anyone could create the graphics for an infantry unit with Mexican-style sombreros and bandoliers, I would be very grateful.

Re: Custom Unit sound/graphics

Thanks BNC. EDIT: Yay! It works! Here's a screenshot of Confederate troops battling the US army outside Louisville, Kentucky - http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb91/FOARP/Louisville.png However I'm still trying to work out how to use the scenario editor to give organic transport to units other tha...

Custom Unit sound/graphics

Hi there, I'm creating some custom units for a mod and am trying to work out where the instructions are in the data files that tell the game which animations/sounds to use for which units. I've done the graphics for a couple of units, but can't work out how to give them animations/sound for their we...

Yay! It works! http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb91/FOARP/CSA.jpeg EDIT: I guess I should say that for a while now I've been planning to do a Southern Victory ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Victory ) mod for HOI4, but HOI4's release still seems a long way off so in the meantime I'm play...

Re: Creating a nation flag

Thanks a lot - I had searched for data files mentioning nations etc. but didn't know about the strings and editor files.

Re: Creating a nation flag

I use paint.net, but what I do is quite likely possibly on Gimp. 1/ load up a square image of your flag. 21x21 or whatever the roundel is. 2/ load up an existing roundel (the German one is good because its only one colour on the outside) 3/ set the existing roundel to be a layer ABOVE the one you w...

Creating a nation flag

Uggh . . . . every time I start modding a game I haven't modded before I feel incredibly dumb. This time is no different. I want to create a custom nation - I've worked out how to add the nation to the nations.pzdat file, and add a corresponding flag to the panzer corps\ui\purchase folder (they're r...

Re: Feedback on the latest version

It doesn't matter that fighters can destroy units by themselves - they can batter units until they can't resist (i.e., they turn red), which I something that no amount of WW1 fighters could have realistically pulled off. This was something that WW1 fighter were incapable of. If you're seeing ~20 fig...

Re: Feedback on the latest version

We're getting away from the main point here: WW1 fighters simply weren't capable of doing what they do in this game.

historicaly = boring im playing not to repeat history, but to change it  i used fighters, arts, tanks and infantries all together = combined warfare fighters can just weaken units not destroy them I can play Panzer Corps if I want to play a WW2 game. Fighters can weaken ground units to the poi...

tbh in the east i have just few fighters, 4+bomber or so, its a large front + kavkaz just for russia, not enough pps for a real storm, its just a thunder from the east 8) but as i said, in general its problem of superior entente production, not fighters Afraid I have to disagree with you there: if ...

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb91/FOARP/WW1blitz.jpg Please note that the above picture comes from turn 15 of the 1917 scenario - every Entente front is similarly stacked with fighters. I started out building infantry, artillery etc. in historical proportions but literally got curb-stomped by...

1) Small garrisons shouldn't cost maintenance - you can't build them, you can't manoeuvre them strategically, so players just disband them to regain the maintenance. 2) Fighters are still OP. You can basically stack your rear area full of them and attack infantry into the ground in 1917 - even at th...
