Re: Commander: The Great War 1.4.2 Official Patch releases!

"Check for update" just results in an error message, as does clicking on the link.

Re: Feedback

Agree that strat-bombing is ridiculously OP compared to its historical effect (which was mostly on morale, and even then was pretty slight).

Re: WW1 Sealion?

Yeah, it's not hard to do, though the whole having to have a capital to get full supply thing does make it unnecessarily difficult.

Re: US army in 1918

The US army being weak is simply historical - they were totally unprepared for war, not least because of large part of the army they had was in Mexico. The tanks, guns, machine guns, and aircraft they used were all given to them by the Entente countries. It was only after the British and French defe...

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific First Screens!

Hmm . . . looks like Pacific Corps (which is a good thing), but who are The Aristocrats? Are they something to do with The Lordz - say a split in the Lordz? Is that why this isn't being released under the Panzer Corps brand?

Re: AI quality (or lack of it)

Arguably there isn't really much of an AI in the game - in most of the major co-ordinated maneouvres the computer seems to be responding to scripted triggers, with simple rules controlling how the units respond to enemy forces within a few hexes of them. It's only when the job of the AI is to attack...

Re: Bug and re-balancing collection thread

Blocking a channel is just gamey, the only way it could be done in reality was sinking block ships in shallow waters, and that would only work for a canal. Floating warships could not block a channel unless they were actually in it (i.e., floating in the Suez Canal, not just positioned in its entran...

Re: Commander: The Great War is now updated to 1.30

I think he was talking about a patch for Panzer Corps. No word of a patch for this game. Personally, I REALLY enjoyed my first 5-6 games, each of which took about a week or for me to play through, but after that game-play began to get samey, even after I started doing things like declaring war on Sp...

Qs

1) Is this game any good? I've seen some AGEOD games (The Great War for example) and wasn't impressed.

2) Is it really possible to bring in the British/French/Mexicans/Spanish on your side playing as the CSA/USA?

3) How complex is the diplomacy?

Hmm . . nice shots, are the pre-Pearl Harbour scenarios still planned?

EDIT: and is the Calliope really shooting at a target 4 hexes away?

Re: Panzer Corps goes Greenlight

My guess is they'll let us know when they know themselves. If you look at the games that do get green-lit, they include a lot of trashy straight-to-discount minigames, so it doesn't look hard to get greenlit per se.

Re: Looking For Allied Commanders to invade Panzer Corps!

Totally jazzed that there's going to be a British-only campaign (hopefully including Commonwealth and Empire troops as well as Free Poles/French/etc.), and glad to hear that you can transfer the core units from that to the joint US/UK campaign. Lots of people are asking about a Soviet campaign, but ...

Re: Looking For Allied Commanders to invade Panzer Corps!

Excellent news! Here's a wish-list: You've already said this will cover the whole war from the Allied perspective, but I really hope this means not just from 1942 onwards, but also campaigns like those in East Africa (e.g., the Battle of Keren, Syria, and Madagascar). Some games (Panzer General II, ...

Re: Panzer Corps 2: Research Tree

I seem to remember one of the SSI "General" games (not PG1, but I don't remember which - possibly People's General?) allowing you to be rewarded with prototype units a few months ahead of their general release. It was a fun and rewarding mechanic that I'd like to see in Panzer Corps.

Terrain request - does anyone have anything that could be used to depict the Great Wall lying around handy? Needed for China battles.

Re: Just cancelled my '42/'43 West purchase. Here's why...

This thread is ridiculous. Some basic facts: 1) Banks, money transfering services can take a long time to transfer, and 15 minutes is in no way, shape, or form too long to wait for a transfer to go through. The reason why they do this is obvious - many services (e.g., Paypal) rake off the interest o...

Re: What game would you like to see next?

A Japanese campaign will also require a more robust engine for naval warfare (see: Pacific General). The current PzC system really isn't geared toward naval battles. My guess is that the devs are taking an evolutionary approach to building out the PzC engine and have some other improvements/innovat...

Re: What game would you like to see next?

I voted Pacific also. However, keep in mind, the Japanese only were on the offensive roughly 6 months . After that, they progressively are pushed onto the defence and outmanned and outgunned and out produced. Of course, Germany was too and Slitherine did a wonderful job of making it an interesting ...
