Re: Order of Battle returns to Asia with Burma Road!

I am very excited that Slitherine-The Aristocrats is coming up with a DLC covering the Burma-India-SE Asia theater, a much forgotten and neglected theater in strategy gaming circles, much like the XIV Army "Forgotten Army" that fought in the theater I look forward to Burma Road's release and wish th...

Re: Stalingrad Docks - Arrghh!!

Stalingrad Docks is a grind to be sure. I think the previous posters all gave pretty good advice. My own approach to the scenario is not to worry too much about the number of Soviet units destroyed because that is not a DV condition. Instead I focus on deploying the right mix of units to capture all...

As a historical note, I think fighters and bombers were also upgraded in the field. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%BCstsatz

Re: StuG IIIA

That's one of the references I used. If memory serves, historically the Sturmpanzer I was available for the 1940 campaign but not before.

Re: Encirclement/Siege Question

Based on my experience, I think the AI will send its units to re-take victory hexes rather than move towards the frontline. While having enemy remants attack your forces from behind is certainly bad, having an enemy unit re-take a victory hex is more problematic IMHO. In my playthroughs, I guard aga...

Re: Where is that rank/status thread?

I think Slitherine should give posters a choice when they reach a new rank - either hang on to your current icon or choose one from the next tier/rank.

Re: How is US corps?

@GiveWarAChance, Go 229 is in the equipment file but is classified as a fighter, not a bomber. The equipment file puts the available from date as 29-Apr-1945, so I'm not sure if it is available for use in either GC45 East or GC45 West (Germany surrendered 7-May-1945). Someone who has played through ...

Re: Encirclement/Siege Question

I am not sure PzC's AI (even at level 2) is smart enough to break out - i.e., attempt to link up with nearby friendly units, unless it is some sort of scripted event. Based on my experience with the AI, it generally prefers to attack your weakest unit. I suspect that is also the case when the AI uni...

Re: How is US corps?

Thanks for sharing, JagdpanzerIV. Based on my limited playthrough of US Corps, I also agree that Rangers are hands down the best infantry type. Your other suggestions have been noted. :D Anyway, I want to clarify my earlier question because I realize it's not very clear. What I wanted to know was wh...

Re: Encirclement/Siege Question

Hey TSP, thanks for sharing. I have noticed that a level bomber cannot reduce ammo below 1. I will be more attentive and bear that in mind.

Re: How is US corps?

I greatly appreciate the advice and comments that have been offered. I am planning a US Corps play through once I am done with GC East. I am wondering if anyone has worked out the upgrade path for US equipment and is willing to share that?

Re: Restoring Strength Points

The strength point restoration mechanics is the same both during the deployment phase and during the scenario (except for cost differences). As goose_2 said, the first restoration/reinforcement - if current strength is below 10 - brings the unit's strength back to 10. Thereafter, each reinforcement ...

Re: Encirclement/Siege Question

This is based on my understanding of PzC mechanics (i.e., may not be entirely correct):- I don't think a besieged unit gets progressively weaker just by being surrounded. If your besieging units do nothing to the besieged, the besieged unit's strength points and supply (ammo+fuel) stay unchanged. To...

Re: StuG IIIA

@captainjack: For my playthroughs, I've modified the equipment file to make StuGIIIA purchasable in GC40. Really can't see the historical justification for making Sturmpanzer I is available in GC39, but not making StuGIIIA available in GC40. There were a number of StuG batteries that served in the 1...

Re: Prestige question about Escape from Stalingrad

@GiveWarAchance: Got a DV in Escape. It's a relatively easy scenario as long as you read the mission briefing and pay attention to the victory objectives. I don't want to spoil it for you, but suffice it to say that we are back to open country, the Soviets have the initiative and quite a few air and...

Prestige question about Escape from Stalingrad

I am playing Escape from Stalingrad and I notice that prestige per turn is 0! Is that a bug or is that part of the scenario (i.e., the result of disobeying orders and escaping from Stalingrad)? From my Stalingrad Ruins path, I always earned prestige per turn. Many thanks in advance for your insights.
