Re: Getting Started
What is the relationship between the *.xlsx files in Data\Database\Empires_DB.zip and the CSV files? The xslx files are easy to read and change, but appear to have no game effect. Are they intended to be "saved as" to the .CSV files in order to be used? There's some additional weirdness here. The CS...

Main Capitol moving a lot -- working as intended?
Post 1.03, my main capitol appears to be moving a lot. Is this working as intended? It doesn't appear to be moving to the region with the greatest culture. Not clear to me why it's moving. Most recently, I captured an enemy's capitol, and it moved there, even while the region was still under pacific...

Re: Some questions...
Base rate is 35% unless you are near the top of the legacy table Would suspect they had extra from their buildings, especially if it was their capital region I am #3 on the legacy table and am producing culture with everyone I can spare, so my base rate has been around 8 - 10% most of the game (I h...

Some questions...
Great game, but I feel like I'm missing some nuances here. Would love to know what I'm missing... In my current game as the Aerverni, I'm on turn 44. I've been able to keep my again token gain under 10%, but I've had 11 tokens applied (so like ~25%). Are there other factors in play than the % that c...

Got it. I just haven't seen that decision yet in either of my games.

Re: FOG2 Conversion Casualties
FoG2 results in FoG:E seems to give very small casualties, as a battle is won when 40% to 60% of the enemy is routed, which often means 15-20% casualties... The same battle played in FoG:E usually gives 2 or 3x times more, as units are fully destroyed. Hmmm... now that you mention it, I've noticed ...

Re: FOG2 Conversion Casualties
Oh got it. I do really like the FOG2 casualty screen to know just how many of the barbarian horde I put to the sword, but perhaps the additional casualties could not be calculated for Empires battles.

Re: (how not to) Play as Carthage
I think one of the gaps in the game is lack of ability to get rid of regions. Often time I capture simply because I'm chasing an army, but I don't really want the region. I think some options are needed to: * Diplomatically gift a region. * Create a client state out of captured regions. * Free a reg...

FOG2 Conversion Casualties
I've noticed when playing battles in FOG2 that the distribution of post battle casualties for the loser seems really small. It's almost always between 50 and 55%. Shouldn't this vary more and have more to do with force composition in general? For example, if the winner has a better ratio of light ca...

Re: Aging Token Madness
To be fair no nation needs to be in the bottom 1/3 of the table generating regression tokens for 3 consecutive turns given remedial measures. That's not the case, however. There is no such limit that keeps tokens from appearing in subsequent turns. Given any three turns, and a 20% chance (which isn...

Re: Aging Token Madness
I think you mean the slower progress and decadence option? That's not quite what I'm asking for, although I might try that at some point. I'm saying that, on normal mode (how I assume the game is intended to be played), the random loss chance is on a cool down, so that it can't / is less likely to o...

Aging Token Madness
I think that there needs to be a cool down on gaining Aging Tokens. In my current game, I have a 20% accrual rate... but I've received 1 each of the last three turns (not an unlikely cluster given many turns in a game). Perhaps following any turn in which you receive a token, you either cannot recei...

Re: Can you choose battle size in Empires?
I have the same problem. I don't like large battles as they take too much time away from the strategy game. I think a battle I can play in about 10 minutes is perfect, and a 20 minute battle every one in while is okay. Editing the export file every time I fight isn't a good solution. I've played aro...

Re: Pike and Shot Campaigns Feedback
Battles can win too abruptly. I've won a number of battles now because the enemy cavalry routed, and even though my entire line of dutch pike and shot was about to rout in the face of tercios, I was the victors. How about a random timer that triggers once the win conditions would be met, and is mod...

Pike and Shot Campaigns Feedback
I've been playing through a campaign a bit. A few pieces of feedback: 1) Battles can win too abruptly. I've won a number of battles now because the enemy cavalry routed, and even though my entire line of dutch pike and shot was about to rout in the face of tercios, I was the victors. How about a ran...
